Same old story:
I brought treats for the younger birds, but the old ones scared them away and kept the treats for themselves. Today I brought them steak 🥩, ramen noodles, grapes and watermelon 🍉. It’s very hard to get everyone to enjoy them. Soon as the big girls see the little ones running towards me they come out of hiding and intercept!
:idunno :barnie
Yup same here.

I have resorted to letting the youngsters in the barn and shutting the door on the grups to keep them out 😊

I am told he won’t get any bigger 😳 he is tiny! And he has turned into a jerk.

Today he grabbed hold of Henny Penny’s tail and she literally dragged him up the aisle of the barn
:gig

Then she turned around and beat the crap out of him.

He tried again, got dragged again, and again got a thrashing. I darn well hope he doesn’t start fighting with Mr P or Bert 😢

@BY Bob does the chick in this thread look like Aster? Does she (Aster) have a pea comb or a straight comb

They are likely a similar cross as my Azur Blue - Leghorn x Auracana. They lay Robin egg blue eggs.

They are the friendly active nosey little birds, always have to see what I am doing, but they are not terribly good at flying - which surprises me. But I am glad also for that! I have enough trouble with Tippy, Eli-too, and Butterscotch
Pony, @SimpleJenn build wise she fits, so far. One LARGE problem. Where did the brown egg come from?

Getting a thrashing from a hen seems to have a greater impact than from another roo. Twirp thrashed Hector. He turned into a good boy immediately. Tuff has been thrashed upon multiple occasions by the older boys and is still being an idiot. At this point, I hope he has a HARD moult so he doesn't want to go near ANY of the girls for a while....or he tries to mess with one of the cranky moulting ladies and they wallop him.

To be fair to Tuff, he does have the vigilance from his daddy who got a double dose from Cheetah and Nellie. When he's on lookout, he's fantastic. In fact, I think he's the one who first sounded the alarm over the fox back in March. If he gets the earned drubbing, he will be a wonderful rooster. I can't administer that. One (or more) of the ladies needs to do it.

Please, Mr LC, please, go after Henny Penny a lot more...and Henny, get mad at him and give him the drubbing he needs.

Yes that is the question.

I am thinking mum is an EE of sorts and Dada is a leghorn. Or LH cross. EE can have brown eggs; if Dada is also an EE or Prairie Blue Bell or Whiting True Blue type could account for the LH look.

I for one cannot wait to see what colour egg she has. ♥️
