Well, Kasumi is trying to get out of becoming dumplings...
She tucked the youngsters in bed and was standing guard outside their brooder when I went to lock them up. As soon as I closed their door she sauntered off to the coop and went to bed. That is head hen worthy behavior. I thanked her but had to warn her...if she keeps beating Boss Man's girl Shep up in front of him the choice will be out of my hands.

Xzit finally started laying eggs again after that long broody spell. Coco didn’t lay one today (that I am aware of)

Those pictures got me... What a chicken can do to a human! I am very sorry you lost her, would love to know your other stories. Did you try a epson soak? If not, God forbid you ever have to deal with this again, 100% epson soak them, unless they are really weak.

I thought about giving her a soak. But it came on pretty quickly, she got weak fast after all the issues she has had these past 2-3 months. And with our 100 degree weather lately I was worried about adding warm water on top of it. I also think she was ready to go, if you know what I mean.

I am told he won’t get any bigger he is tiny! And he has turned into a jerk.

Today he grabbed hold of Henny Penny’s tail and she literally dragged him up the aisle of the barn


Then she turned around and beat the crap out of him.

He tried again, got dragged again, and again got a thrashing. I darn well hope he doesn’t start fighting with Mr P or Bert

Castor is going to get himself in BIG trouble. Morning half-light, taking food out for chickens, he's following me.... early bird hummingbird is hovering around the mint, no more than 3 feet from me. Castor starts stalking it. He won't hunt the mice hiding under the bush next to the mint, but he'll go for my hummingbirds?! Cat, you'll be living in Sherlock's doghouse with him (just because you don't like him) if you keep that up!
