WOW! Nice! Are you going to post this build in the BYC coop build section? The reused cabinet doors to retrieve eggs is so-o-o clever. I'm sure you'll protect those doors from inclement weather. We use Liquid Gold to keep our furniture and cabinet woods protected from moisture, spills, humidity, dust. It's a little disturbing how much chickens like poultry. I resisted giving them meat on the bone for the longest time. But now their run has its share of bones in it. Little feathered Piranha can strip a drumstick in minutes!
Speaking of which, they're almost sharing run space! View attachment 3913830
The new coop is coming slowly. Hubby's been under the weather, so I've been doing it alone. View attachment 3913831
Some wire is up and the door is nearly complete. It's slow work by myself.
But I'm quite proud of the nest boxes. Entirely too many for 7 hens, but I used old cabinets from a remodel. I left the doors on the backs, so I can just take eggs from the back and not go in. View attachment 3913841View attachment 3913842
I just wish it was done so I could get them moved.
I’m kidding with her, I know Ancient Greek
I hadn't thought of it. I guess I could post it.WOW! Nice! Are you going to post this build in the BYC coop build section? The reused cabinet doors to retrieve eggs is so-o-o clever. Howdy.Hi Lilion!![]()
Being that the cabinets are for chickens you probably won't want to Liquid Gold treat them. It would just be on the outer doors to keep them clean and moisture/humidity/spills protected anyway.I hadn't thought of it. I guess I could post it.
It's indoors so I doubt there's much damage that will be done to the doors. The last nest box was also made out of these, but I didn't think of this. We mounted that one on the wall. I took the backs off these, made the backs the fronts, and put them through the wall since most of the wall will be wire.
