Greetings yall! It's been a crazy summer. Full of ups and downs. Lost some good chickens but had a hen hatch 16 of 16 eggs! They're big now and will be rehomed soon. Goldie passed and was played to rest in our flower garden. I would have buried her near Big Boy but Lety took care of her before telling me. SOOKIE (Silkie) also passed and is in our flower garden. Lety knows I get emotional so she buried Silkie too before telling me. The pups are doing great! We are currently training a friend's dog. He was potty broke and don't mess with chickens but his manners are terrible. Rambo is a lab pup about nine months old. He's coming along but a little crazy as most adolescents are. My bronchitis is aggravating along with the arthritis in my hip but thankfully I have plenty of @Ponypoor mum's recipe. I will try to catch up and hopefully ever is doing fantastic.

So nice to have you back. Our sympathies on Sookie and Goldie's passing. It's never easy when we lose the special ones.

BRs & Doms have a dark shading down the front legs to the top of the toes on female chicks while males should not.

That also only holds true if both parents are barred. When one is barred and the other isn't, it becomes a mixed bag.

Not entirely on the sexable. If the father is the barred bird (mother not barred), ALL the babies should be barred. If the mother is barred (and father not), then they're sexable with roos being barred and hens being not. The only way roos will be double barred is if both parents are barred. Otherwise all will be single barred

Mine are producing now but they aren’t close to ripe yet.

Correct. If he bred with a barred hen, some of the roos could be double barred, but some could also be single barred. All hens would be single.
