I did not choose you. I was not happy when you showed up. I did NOT want a game rooster and was fully prepared to do what I had to to keep my dear Bubba safe if you became a problem.

Randy, the first few days while still missing my dear Branch and reeling from his loss you showed signs of promise. 4 days, just 4 days I knew I could not dispose of you. I vowed if you did not work out for me I would do my best to find you a home. I saw signs of a good rooster. Young yes, hormonal oh yes. You learned though and you learned fast from Bubba and Siri.

Randy you are excellent at watching the sky for predators and have spotted hawks before I have. Several times now you have sent the girls to cover long before I spotted the threat.

Randy, so far you are good with the chicks. Your first meeting with Julio he was rude and came charging up to you and chest bumped you. You did nothing, not even a deserved peck on the head. He is going to need a few of those by the way.

Today you are my hero. Thanks to you I still have my Spot. One of my neighbors have friends staying with them and they brought a little terrier. It got out this afternoon and had Spot pinned. You my boy saved her. You let your inner "fighting rooster" out and charged and flogged it shrieking all the way to their porch. Thanks to you their visitors still have their dog. They have been warned though, it gets out again you will not have to do your job, I will take care of it for you.
You could say things happen for a reason or that there is a meaning behind all this, or maybe just that you are rewarded for giving him a chance...
It makes me very happy Randy became your hero. Whatever the reasons and the excuses, I don't think it's right to treat roosters like he was.
I think it is time I seriously start looking long and hard into a LGD. CeeCee does great when she is outside, but she is a house dog. She is not out all day long or all night. I do not want a Great Pyrenees. I have been around a few, I do not care for them even though they did their job well. I want a Anatolian Shepherd.
From what I hear, the strains in the US are quite different, but the ones we have here have a big tendency to wander off. They are very difficult to keep on a property that is not fenced. And they can walk a looooong way. Our friend farmer Gaston has a bunch of them. One of them, Oscar, decided one summer he didn't want to guard the sheeps in the mountains from the wolves anymore, which is why people have them here. He walked down from a 6700 ft mountain where the sheeps where kept, 15 km/10 miles back to his human's home 🤣.
We don't see enough of Annette - she is very pretty
Your Annette is simply lovely- I love her colouring it’s so beautiful.
I don't see enough of her either. She is one of those escapee ! A few weeks ago my partner said he thought the boar had come digging in the field under the chickens yard. It turns out Annette had found she could force her way through the wire mesh and was spending most of the afternoons on her own scratching and digging ! I never noticed because she could come back the same way, though it was more difficult. I've doubled the fence with netting since and now she flies over one of the door. At least I hear her when she takes off ! She is extremely clever so I'm not too afraid for her.

She is just like Piou-piou before she got that bad wound ; she cares nothing about humans. She isn't scared, she just wants nothing to do with us and she isn't food motivated at all. I hope like Piou-piou she will change as she gets older.
What is your house roof? Slate or tile? Does the snow slide off it? Or is it not a factor on that side of the structure.
Half of the roof is tile, half is sheet metal, but the slope is the other way so it's not an issue.
Here are some pics from below where you can see the landscape cloth at the bottom of the run. It's hard to see because of all the leaves. On the left of the run, and the side where the human door is, there isn't any. When it gets too windy we protect it with transparent plastic tiles ; it's where they have their favourite perch and it's nice to have it more cozy in winter and more ventilated in summer.

An unlikely sunbathing tuefer. Laure (on the left).and Kara both went to the vet recently : Laure was implanted and Kara has ascites, likely from a reproductive issue. When Kara was healthy, she was a huge bully ; and Laure has always been terrified of all the other hens. However since they've been not very well, they seem to have a surprising tolerance with each other ! I've seen this before when two of my ex-batt's were not feeling good at the same time.

We've got a honker this morning! Aliss (starting to establish herself as boss) is pecking the other girls heads and giving her best and loudest pubescent goose honks 😂

Oh man, my little girls are growing up. Gonna lose their baby voices soon!

Good morning everyone!

I wish the camera showed the iridescence in her feathers better! She is a beautiful bird 🥰

Yee gads you have caught it bad! I am just getting over it! But you have it worse I think - chicken fever. And you have a collaborative partner which makes it worse! 😊
Oh it gets better!

My mother in law is buying two hens for our flock. The cochin mix is hers and the fibro egger will be mine. The eggs will be basically for everyone haha.

I love small dogs. Idk why so many people hate them 😭 they are just as good as any other size dog, its not their fault that some small dog owners treat them like toys and dont train them properly
He behaves like a "real" dog because we treat him like one! He's got little man syndrome but he's an awesome guard dog and mouser. Really his big flaw is he barks a lot, but if people are over and sitting down he loves on them.
