@ManueB ~ TY for that insight about your region's guard dogs. I have studied different guard/flock breeds when we were considering one or two.

We found Ovcharka likes to guard in tandem while one dog lures a predator from the front the 2nd dog attacks from behind. Loyal to owner/family members but leery of strangers. Pretty much the same w/all large flock breeds ~ Pyrenees, Maremma, Leonberger, Anatolian, etc flock breeds.

& since flock guard breeds are large they like miles of space to wander. Hard to keep a breed meant to trek miles w/herds/flocks to keep it in a confined acreage. My Kansas chicken breeder raises Great Pyrenees on 40 acres & has a hard time keeping them fenced w/the cattle or chickens on the property as the dogs love to wander; & she's had a couple stolen when discovered a broken fence near the highway. If a dog did not come home it was obvious theft since her wandering dogs behavior would be to reappear as much as a week later.

Then there's our Nevada animal rescue friend who has a tiny dog that guards loyally their chickens.

Here's our "Char" rehomed w/our Nevada friend & little loyal dog ❤️

Princess loved being out thus morning with the garden be relatively cleared but this afternoon it's been fairly heavy rain.
We have probably discussed this before, but I will again ask.
Have you ever thought of getting another hen to keep Princess company? I know she has her other furry friends, but chooks are social and they have needs.
Just asking

We love our neighborhood Crows. They chase off the Cooper's hawks (chicken hawks) yet the Crows never bother our hens & never come down to eat the chicken treats or feed. We LOVE our Crows & our girls are not afraid of them overhead.

However our hens are very wary of a suspicious helium balloon when it drifts by! 🎈

Why do people on the internet have cuter birds than mines!!
Everybody has such talkative birds.. so cute and calm..
But my hens are struggling to get enough courage to take a blueberry off of my hand still!! :barnie
“Patience my young grasshopper, you will see a change in their behavior as soon as you change your behavior!” 🥷

Maybe like our Char was ~ maybe Princess likes humans, dog, & cat more

Have you tried crushing the blueberries? My girls were afraid of them at first, until I crushed them so that the "guts" were leaking out, and then they got the idea that they were food

Crows 🐦‍⬛ like walnuts, and if you get some and take a walk, throw some on the ground and see if they will eat them?
