Two rules regarding Queen Aurora.
1. She’s right about everything, all the time, without question or rebuttal.
2. If you still think she is wrong, refer to rule number one.
You are right, Aurora is wise and right on everything.

Aurora also has a devious and mischievous streak to her. Our Queen also knows the value of minions to do her bidding. I feel if our dear Queen had a friend like Poppet she would quickly see her value. Devious and Mischievous, Poppet would be her right wing chook. Poppet is tiny but mighty, she has a hoard of minions at her disposal. Think of the trouble those 2 could cause. They would decree the orders and the minions be the ones to cause the chaos while they remain looking innocent in all the mess.

Ours don't have fruits, it's the ones two hundred meters below us that do. I haven't given hope that one year where we don't get a late frost, some pomegranate will pop up in our place.

But you're giving me a wicked idea-especially with those yummy pictures and that empty plate - since they are on a public trail path that's not frequented at all, and nobody picks them...maybe I could steal one for the chickens 🤣?

Can you explain what are PC's ? Politically correct I know, the expression made it into french language, but PC's with a plural I don't. I suppose it's related ?

To be honest, I personally also feel upset reading about chickens being culled, whether because they are males, old hens, or bad tempered...and about some other things too, like shipping live chicks, the hatchery organisation and way of selling chicks in huge bins in AG stores in Northern America. But I feel it's different since we are on a chicken forum. I can't expect to read and discuss only things I agree with about chickens, otherwise I would have to find the "semi free-ranging, no culling, broody hatching only, environmental friendly, organic feeding, goes to the vet and still makes beginner mistakes" forum ...and I would likely be it's only member and talk to myself, which I already do far too much🤣.
Discussions about chickens can get very heated on other threads, but on this thread they are 99% of the time serene and open-minded, which I'm sure we all appreciate.
I've come to think discussions on sensitive subjects other than chickens such as politics would be best kept to the Random ramblings forum. Although in the BYC rules they explicitly advise against them.

Temperatures have suddenly dropped here. It was 4/39 this morning. The cats came back inside at dawn, instead of staying to hunt outside. Not happy I woke them up for Caturday.

We are once again seeing a lot of flying raptors, which wasn't so much the case in summer. Here Mélisse spots a very far but huge gallicus hawk.

Sometimes people don't pay close attention to their fruit trees & fruits fall to the sidewalks like lemons oranges grapefruit pomegranates figs even walnuts ~ fair game for people strolling by. A couple times DH brought home split open pomegranates ~ people leave them on the ground not realizing those are the sweetest pomegranates ~ no wonder chickens go nuts for those!

PC's is plural encompassing all politically correct views. I take shortcuts typing w/ one finger since one broken arm is still in a brace & can't type normal w/ 2 hands :(

Yep we're on a sympatico wavelength & I would be your 2nd person on that forum thread you described since our hens are pets & not for eggs or meat but like you say this is the best post for people who love their birds & give them humane treatment no matter what their birds are used for. Just fluffy butts :)

Having raised Persians decades ago I love all varieties of kittys. Your Tabbys are so pretty! Our 2 farm Tabby females were great mousers/ratters!

Gallicus hawk must be similar to our Cooper's hawk (chicken hawk). I looked up gallicus hawk They are called snake eagle in Europe. Pretty bird but not if near our chickens!

That pic of your Melisse is a nice action shot. A pose we chicken owners can identify with our own hens.

Good morning and happy Caturday everyone. We still have the 4 kittens who are holy terrors. I was given a heart attack for my birthday from my favorite boy Panda.

View attachment 3938226

Now, having horses and chickens over the years there have been a few rats killed outside. CeeCee is lethal with them if she gets a chance. I could say though that we had never had one inside. Well that has changed. I get up this morning and head to the coffee pot. The kittens are having a ball making a ruckus in the laundry room, nothing new. CeeCee is still snoring at the foot of my bed, where she has been all night with the door shut. Here comes Panda strolling into the kitchen meowing and very proudly dragging a RAT!!!! It was still twitching and I screamed. Panda was tackled by his siblings fighting over who got the "toy". After my heart attack I grabbed a paper towel and fought the devils to get it away from them. Lots of growling, hissing and swiping at me but I won. I took it outside still slightly alive and finished it off and tossed it into the creek. Now my chickens are having a field day attacking it. I am proud of the kittens, they have never stepped foot outside, yet they proved themselves this morning. I already told mom, all 4 need to stay.
Jeeze lol! I yell at mold, and start jumping when I see it. If I saw that, who knows where I would be now... 😳

Update here, I know I have been gone for quite a while. Personal upheaval meant I had to rehome my flock and myself and my kids will be moving to an apartment in Delaware where my family is.

We went to the petting zoo here and I have some birds and animal pics to actually add to the thread!

Blue or Green eyes ~ my favorite!!! All Calicos are females & extremely very rare if one is male.

c.1951 ~ Shirley Temple a calico

Our all white female Persian momma was an odd-eyed Persian (one blue eye/one copper eye). Never had a closeup color photo in those olden days!

c.1973 Odd-eyed Scheherazade one copper/one blue eye ~ magnification shows the darker eye ~ this breed is the most laid-back cat we ever had ~ not a mouser but great at catching & eating flies!!!

We are everywhere!

My husband, at 56, has decided to learn blacksmithing. He has two forges, anvils, etc. now. So far he's mostly done tent stakes and s-hooks...but it's a start. There's always something old to learanvil,
Maybe I'll see him on the reality show "Forged in Fire" teehee ~ love that Netflix series!

Wow! a huge upheaval I can relate! How great you can keep nature in your current circumstance.

Glad to see the poultry wasn't overcrowded. Highland miniature cattle?

Actually, I have to say all of the animals at this park seem to be very well cared for. The pictures you see aren’t where they are permanently kept. They have huge turn outs and rotate the animals that are in the petting/feeding area each day.

All of the animals were in great condition and seemed relaxed and happy to be snagging treats from the visitors.

Yes, they had a highland mini and other mini cows as well. Tons of goats and even a baby giraffe 🦒.
