The poor girl is deep in her molt but that did not stop her from enjoying her corn cake!

The bad news......

Met the second cockerel to live at FBA.

I've known for about a month that he probably was not a hen but I did not want to admit it. Mrs BY Bob is very sad. No Polish at FBA this winter.

Versace will need to be rehomed. If anyone is interested I will travel a long way to find him a great home.
You are a real treasure Bob

Princess is still moulting but she's so much better and she's eating crumble and a little layers feed again. I'm making sure she's getting what she needs she's had lamb and pork this week with various vegetables and fruits plus she's been digging around the garden get lord knows what

I have a solution:

Hatch more chicks - knowing most of the pullets are going to go with Randy. if you start incubating now (read within a week), then they would be okay to go in 8-10 weeks (when they are 5-7 weeks old and 'momma' gives them up).

Raising more chicks is always fun...and if you know ahead of time that you will not be keeping them - then you can brace yourself and all will be good. Since they should be quarantined/slowly integrated at the new place...Randy would have a couple of weeks to solidify that those chicks are 'his', and, generally speaking, Astralorps are pretty easy going (not quite as much as Buff Orps, in my experience...but still pretty easy going) so he should get along okay with another Roo as long as there are enough hens and is enough space for both.

Nope, I'm not an enabler...repeat after me: bgmathteach is not an enabler, bgmathteach is not an enabler... 🤭 :gig 🤭

All the above said - I still really like the idea of @RoyalChick taking a Roo. I think, given her situation on free ranging and all the wildlife around, if @RebeccaBoyd is willing to give up Randy, he would make a really good look-out, predator savy, alert Roo for the girls. But, that still leaves Versace. Versace would be a good addition as well.... any alert Roo would be good for RC's situation - a dedicated look-out man that is also a good boy!

:idunno So, @RoyalChick - that begs the question: which one of the boys are you going to take?:idunno
This plan is very flawed. Good idea in concept though. My big girls have proven themselves reliable at 1 thing. They produce boys. I may just introduce her to a few of the local livestock facebook groups. If she can come up with 4 to 5 more hens on her own. Then I would consider letting her have Randy and maybe, maybe Spooky. Well, no, she needs 5 of 6, I want to keep spooky as well dang it. I would send her the blue cochins in a heartbeat. Rosie would beat me over the head if I did.

First of all that is an adorable picture.
Secondly, you should submit it to caption competition - it is funny!
And finally, don’t you think they need a TV to watch rather than staring at a blank wall?!
Thank you! They are so adorable, aren't they?

I will try to submit it to caption competition, if I can find it.

Honey may be offended by the idea of TV though because she is blind. But maybe she is happy to listen. I need to negotiate with her:p
