Chick crumbles. Now they're moving to molting/plumage feed which is still high in protein.

I hate crumbles with a passion lol. Not sure why.

Did you mix the crumbles 50/50 with the pellets?

Yep, my girls did this last year when I switched them too. I'll make a few mashes with the pellets so they can at least get used to the flavor.
Crumbles are so messy!

My chickens got all the veggie scraps (except the onion!) And a lil bacon grease on their lunches. We're starting to move to pellet food and they do not understand it yet. They will though, just needs a bit of time.View attachment 3949832
This week I will make a batch of spiced apple butter with a bit of brown sugar, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. It's excellent on homemade bread, or crackers!

They haven't tried the woodpile yet. When snow hits the ground, they're going to decide the pile is a great hangout spot.
