Where are you that you need to winterize the coop so early?! It was in the 80s here today
Montana...IN the Rockies....the forecasted low temp for dawn this morning in town was 34F. Temp reading on vehicle on way to wood hauling locale was 24F. Afternoon high at home was 67F

Lining nest boxes and fresh straw/shavings tomorrow. Also running lawn mower empty and clearing hoses. Will leave 1 out but draped to water runs out so can't freeze in the hose.

Also taking an old mattress out to rebuild Sherlock's outdoor bed in the carport.

35 yrs ago those trees were about 3 and 4 feet tall 😊 that property belongs to someone else, but I used to ride back there all the time, it’s all grown in back there now.

There was an old farmstead there, the stone wall was there and lots of bric-a-brac like those old glass bottles for medicines and whatnot. Also garbage, which was metal, wood and glass. No plastics back then!

I should take a walk back there one day to see what’s become of the old place.

Old wonders tax
Sophia is an old wonder also

She looks so much better now. Hope she stays that way for a long long time ❤️

Yep winter on the way for sure.

It’s been stellar weather here so far. And we all know that won’t last!

Autumn sunsetView attachment 3949877Tomorrow plans: winterizing the coop.

They haven't tried the woodpile yet. When snow hits the ground, they're going to decide the pile is a great hangout spot.
AMAZING!

Thanks for sharing, I miss those prairie /foothills sunsets and sunrises.

Does Ruka do any foraging when she is outside? Or is she ‘lounge lizard’ sunning herself 😊

I have see mice climb the walls here in the barn. Agile little so-and-so’s.
There is very little edible this time of year. We have finally had some rain so there are little patches of green, but not much that she would want. Shes just soaking up the outdoors.
