we actually have a bunch of them but they stopped working for a bit (I am pretty sure we had just gotten all of them at that point) so he bought them. And now he won't let me get rid of them

We got this small one on Amazon but I'm sure they are elsewhere ~ we followed instructions exactly & it works. DH experimented w/bread, grapes, cherry tomatoes, seeds, lunch jerky ~ the best bait was fruit or small cherry tomatoes.

To my own defense, I was not invited, nor aware that he had passed.

according to this, , it says up to 2 miles....but it also states 'for mice AND rats', and I believe rats tend to travel farther. That said...if you train your chickens to hone their inner velociraptor - then they won't come back because it will not be 'an inviting place'




Note: The article emphasizes they travel that distance if they know they can find food and shelter.

I think it will return! Free food!

We set out the cage traps at night after roost & it's been successful catching rodents ~ & drowning in deep water IS fast compared to watching a squirming dying rodent squeezed in a snap trap or watching one w/just a trapped foot trying to drag itself out of the spring mechanism. There's no possible escape in a closed cage trap & no super long suffering in a water plunge. But to each his own as we found what works best for us after dark when the chickens, sparrows, & lizards aren't active to get hurt. The $19 we spent on the cage was cheaper than the cost of all the accumulatively expensive total of glue & spring traps we spent in the past!

I like the zap trap it kills instantly, and the animal cannot escape - if it completes the circuit in the trap it instantly is zapped. And the trap continues to zap it for 30 seconds to ensure it is dead.

It is my preferred trap, but I alternate with the snap one also. It’s one of those plastic ones that the animal has to get right into before tripping it, so it’s crushed.

I do not like to have to kill them but they are a danger to my livestock, me and the barn, they carry diseases and chew on wires. Leave feces and pee everywhere.

I've heard people have had rats in their toilets before ~ do they swim thru the sewer pipes into the bowl or are they in the house seeking a drink of water like puppies do? Who knows? Supposedly there's a sachet product that can be left around an area that the odor repels mice/rats but not sure if that's a scam?

Have seen those sachets on TV here in Ads. I would say it’s a waste of money. But then I haven’t checked it out.
