Oh I see now! The kitten was inside the windshield. What a crazy video! I have never seen such behaviour in a raptor, trying to go after that kitten theough the window!

I've observed several times how stupidly Cooper's act!

Same here. It will be nice this weekend so I will get a permanent gate up on the outside run and put up some netting to stop the ladies from flying out, and hawks from flying in.

Need to enclose Hen House B it has the whole top of the one wall open with mesh, I have plexiglass to put there to keep drafts and cold out.

Also need to start moving everyone into the Hen Houses.

Where do you find netting to cover a big yard?

Hawk nuggets and chips Hateful vermin.

It makes so mad how these creatures are permitted to kill our pet's and are still protected.

Thank you for your sympathy, Marie! But I don’t blame them for their existence and doing what they need to do to survive. They usually go after prey we really don’t want a lot more of. So I think of it the other way around, that they are part of the whole balance of nature, just doing their thing, and it is our job to guard our special pets.

The past 2 nights he's been out on the perch instead of inside so I have to put him to bed.

Just like Bab is always on an outside roost.

However, Ric Flair is always in bed on time haha.

Yep I have to carry my youngsters into the coop every night - once the time changes and it gets darker earlier I will be herding them into the coop and putting them to bed, making sure they stay put.

Also the Roos I need to deal with makes it hard to get them all to bed. Though to be fair Bert and Rosario go and roost in the Hen Houses which is great.

Where do you find netting to cover a big yard?

I won’t cover the whole yard. I am only interested in predator proofing the Rooster Run (what I call the run). It is 16’ x 95’ and has three large coniferous trees and the Cherry tree to work around.

The thing I want to do is to put some roofing over part of the run closest to the barn so that they can go out there in the rainy and snowy cold weather.

Putting netting over the run isn’t financially practical here during the winter. The heavy snow load would just tear it up. So it would have to be something I can easily remove for the winter, but put in place when there is no snow or freezing rain.

The big yard will be reserved for when I am sitting out there watching them.
