It is a nasty invasive tree called a Bradford Pear. They spring up everywhere unfortunately.
One of my chores is to chop down all the ones in the chicken yard - but I thought I would spare these ones to try and create the gazebo.
I will remove all the others and make sure these don’t ever fruit, but it is a hopeless task to stop them as they seem to appear out of nowhere!

I can’t stand my invasive plants. They will take over every square inch of my yard if I don’t cut them off and dig up the roots. I hate those things

I have a list of things to do I call them inside winter work. And outside summer work

I wanted to have the run completed but with me now working here I seeem to have less time then when I worked away from home!

Winter will be here soon though, and the chooks won’t be out much if at all. So the run can wait.

Right now I am sitting watch everyone, I bought a few pumpkins and the older ladies have showed the youngsters how to peck at it to get to the guts

Dang! None of our hens will eat pumpkin ~ fresh, whole, cutup, cooked, diced, mashed, seeds, nothing! But show them a cooked white or orange buttered sweet potato & they love it!

Paving stones make great seats....and can be moved for different things later....great use!

Yep! I still have 2 full pallets of paver stones to finish using as soon as this arm heals! Tired already of typing w/one finger ~ although, on the bright side, I might build up strength to 75 words per minute soon!!!

The younger ones had their first taste of cabbage and didn’t know what to think of it. I guess cabbage was one thing that Sir Jaffar didn’t have time to teach them.

My bunch never liked cabbage either! Well, I don't need gassy chickens.

Dang! None of our hens will eat pumpkin ~ fresh, whole, cutup, cooked, diced, mashed, seeds, nothing! But show them a cooked white or orange buttered sweet potato & they love it!

My chooks are deathly afraid of pumpkins . Saves me money I guess!

I got so sick & tired of weeds & gardeners who would bring us more weed seeds caught in their equipment ~ solved the problem of no weeds OR gardeners by covering front & backyards w/ paver stones.

great idea for you. Imagine the price of two acres of those stones?
The very last one that was laid would say “here lies Alexander, a wonderful guy, but now who’s going to pay for all these stones? He had a heart attack!

The pavers took me 5 years of leveling & hauling the soil that the lazy contractor just shoved around the yard w/a Bobcat instead of hauling it away.

I was 67 when I started laying backyard pavers in 2011, started frontyard pavers in 2018, took time off to recuperate from covid for 5 months in 2020-21, resumed again till I broke the arm this year. Lord only knows when I'll ever finish. Homes are never done.

Hired a hauler guy to take 4 of these dirt mounds away

2015 before block wall was installed the contract workers pulled up half my pavers to drive a Bobcat onto the yard! But I was lucky this raised garden bed remained ~ it turned out to be the only dirt available for the hens to dustbathe during yard remodel
