Crossbreeding doesn't automatically give Satin offspring. Breeders sometimes take several generations of practice crossbreeding to get desired results or it can happen as a 1st time fluke ~ just never know what combination shows up in crossbred chicks. Doesn't matter cuz they'll still be sweeties!.
. I hate all the debilitating & chicken death viruses & I hate pumping wee chicks w/vaccinations but Mareck's is one I insist on before purchasing chicks. I look for private NPIP breeders who vaccinate.

Now, if ever a proven vaccine can be developed for AI or avian leukosis I would get those! However, we may not have to worry about that since our current flock might be our last for getting more chickens ~ we are getting pretty old

Have you tried to use equine fly spray to control them?I had the best cookies today. I went belated trick-or-eating and visited my two favorite neighbors. They had cookies and fudge and coffee (seems like everyone has coffee)
I came home to find my Dakota was not feeling well. Those stick tight fleas again. I administered some more Vetricin laced Vaseline and that usually works well.
I have not thought of that.
I have lots of things leftover from chaco’s barn. I should probably go up there and get some of that.
