Everyone slept well last night and the holes we drilled in the plastic coop helped a lot. I still left it empty with the nestbox door open to try to dry it even further before I put bedding in.

Yesterday Cookie was SO mad at me, because her favorite nest is in there and I locked her out. She kept hollering at me and pecking the door like "hey, open it up for me!" I showed her the other nests and she just grumbled off back to the plastic coop.
She did lay in the raised nests at some point, she and Nocturne left me eggs this morning.

Cream the adorable. She's only just bigger than the bantams.

Versace snazzy lad. His tail is as straight as I think it was before, it did always drift to one side.

We're thinking Peregrine (perry!) Or Kestrel for this girl. Kiddo wanted her to also be named Shiba-san, or Fenix, or Biscuit. I told her that names have to be different!

Dad gave me pine+oak shavings from the stable doors he's working on. The birds love it, I dumped it on all the soggy mushy spots.
Versace, he’s a “fancy lad”

My favorite bedding is a combination of silk sheets, parachute silky blankets and a heavy duty wool comforter for my bed. Oh you probably meant for the chooks? ..sorry, my bad
My daughter used to call her bedding “tickle sheets” because she also slept on silk

I tried that last summer. All I got was a few visitors and a lot of poop on me. It was very hot one night, so I slept in the rafters with the kids
Tedi likes to stand on my legs. When I’ve been down on the coop floor under the coop doing things (laying edge bricks for the side litter boards to set on, and winterizing), they all come over. Hazel watches from a little distance. Diane wants to warily challenge and inspect me or tug and fight with my jacket to provoke something. Annie wants climb over my legs, preen me and talk, Tedi too but while perching on my leg. I love it, but I imagine the cot might get a little crowded!

I wonder how big his head poof is going to get? It would be funny if he's bigger tail, littler poof to be opposite of Ric Flair. 20241106_155048.jpg

From @Pastel the Rooster
"BBQ isn’t doing well. She isn’t as energetic as she used to be. She doesn’t lay anymore.
I think bumblefoot finally is getting her. I’ve tried so hard to get rid of it but there was nothing I could do.
I’ll keep you updated."
It takes many weeks of dedicated DAILY treatment of 20-30 minute warm Epsom footsoaks & triple antibiotic ointment or Prid vetwraps each day to treat bumble. "DAILY" is the key word here w/ many weeks of doing it. Being "energetic" not so easy w/ bandages on the feet. Hang in there!

I would suggest washing down the plastic coop with white vinegar. White vinegar will kill mold....then let it air out/dry, then put in fresh shavings.

Best of luck with the coop - and your feathered kiddos, hopefully everyone else is okay!
