Mine are so aloof! Versace does tolerate a wing stroke, and I usually have to put Ric Flair in the coop because he hangs out with Bab on the outside roost.
Those silkies were hand raised, and the first 3 weeks of their life were spent in a class full of Kindergarten kids 😊

They are very people oriented.

It’s the one thing with the school chicks, they are super friendly.

Very sick. I think I got spores when I cut a pumpkin that was surprisingly full of mold yesterday.
I had a brief stint of feeling ok around lunch, euthanized some sick roos, then threw up and almost passed out. :/
My main flock is doing well so far, other than the butterbird loss a few days ago. thankfully hubby snuck out of work early and is taking care of the house and doing his best to distract kiddo.
I've kept down some tea, 50/50 clear pedialyte and water, and a couple crackers.

I humbly request pictures of pretty birds, iridescent are my fave.

My iridescent birds are either tatty, in need of moulting or middle of moulting.

Some random group shots from a couple of weeks ago.

All that space, and they crowd together.

The Leghorn we got from the homeschool mom & her 4-H kids was super friendly, but the Marans was mean ~ go figure?

Skiing is fun and doesn't have to be that expensive. Depends upon where you go.

Sorry, I'm not a snow bunny, not my cup of tea. By the time $$$ is spent on after-ski boots, parkas, lined gloves, goggles, ski & pole rentals, a lodge to stay in (too exhausted to leave same day), & meals ~ not to mention either the flight tickets, or the gas spent to get access to a closer ski mountain, we found nothing inexpensive. I was only 23 when I went & it was miserable & expensive then. Can't imagine what inexpensive means today! Only memorable thing I got out of the experience besides blisters on the Achilles was my cushy fleece after-ski boots that I wore forever! Everything else was worthless since we don't need parkas, lined gloves, winter socks, or goggles in Southern Calif.

Nice sunny December 2021 day, w/ the snowy mtn close enough to enjoy while we basque in warmth in our valley.

Today I went to Knisley's Pet and Farm Center. I browsed through since it has been a while since I've walked in there and here are my discoveries.
This was the first section I went to. I do like the selection I'm seeing.

Here's some supplements one can put in their flock's water. There are even probiotic and electrolyte packets.

The mealworms. The shelf behind me held the chicken grain and feed as well as the dried corn bits.

For the rich & famous. I went skiing ONCE! Talk about expensive! & COLD! & rude!
I live in ski country, and worked at a ski resort once as the HR and Health and Safety Manager. I had this lovely sweet spot for my office over looking the main ski hill. Great job but pay sucked.

I skied as a youth but never as an adult, too risky for these creaky bones!
