Hello everyone, I have had a really rough time this Christmas. I became very sick and bed ridden. I left my birds outside to free range and Rudy the rooster never came back home 😩 I almost lost Little CeeCee too, but she found her way home.
I should never have left my birds out unattended. I’m still feeling sickly, but losing my Rudy just makes it harder. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Oh Alex! I'm so sorry. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

I hope you feel like yourself soon. Take care. :hugs:hugs:hugs

Miserable again tonight, rainy with big wet snowflakes. Ugh……

I am so glad I have a dry barn for the horses (and me) to stay in. I used to joke I put up the barn as much for me as the horses, but really, I am glad they have a dry place to get out of the wet. Horses do not enjoy wet weather, they are plains animals and are far better with cold/dry or hot/dry weather.

I really feel for livestock stuck out in this dreary wet weather.

I've written to pooch and mutt about my concerns on the "Sulphate Pentahydrate". I've asked them to please inform me when their phone lines are opened again or to email their response. I told them I wanted to return their food and if they eliminate this toxic substance to inform me and I want go back to them again.
There's no colours added and they provide probiotic. I also said that there shouldn't be fungicide in their food in the first place to have to use that substance.

Sorry about the untidy living room but Nancy Rose is happy 😊
We are waiting for her new bed so she can sleep in my bedroom. She takes over my bed and I need sleep to keep up with her

Sadly, to make mfrs responsible we have to hit them in their pocketbook. Sadly, too, if $$$ is their primary concern, they'll just try alternate chemicals to use if their sales drop. Shipping & shelf-life stability is their target plus using the cheapest ingredients to keep prices low enough to make volume sales. The thing I never thought about before is the poison used to euthanize animal carcasses. That poison stays in the carcass meat when its rendered for pet food ~ ugh! I'm shuddering just thinking about it! & expensive prices is not a guarantee of quality or safety.

She looks so playful. She is very happy w/you! I hope Nancy Rose likes her new bed. Dogs seem to be good about using their doggie beds once they get the message that people beds are off limits. When DD adopted her 2nd big dog they couldn't have 2 big dogs sleeping in their people bed so they bought 2 large doggie beds. DD says its getting difficult to pick up a big dog if it has to go to the vet as she & her DH are getting older now. So their next rescue if they get one will be a smaller size.

Riley ~ DD's 1st Pit-mix was rescued at 4-mo-old but grew to have many health problems & passed ~ she hated other dogs. DD spent thousands on professional lessons to break the habit but nothing worked :(

Next, DD rescued a smaller Pit-mix who needed eye surgery that the rescue group couldn't afford so DD adopted her & paid for surgery ~ this girl is excellent w/other dogs & people too

This Golden Retriever was adopted from DD's Alzheimer's mom-in-law. She is a huge breed but gets along well w/all animals & people.

I can't imagine their vet bills w/ 2 big dogs so I'm grateful we have 6 small hens 🥰
This non-bearded silly Silkie keeps me laughing just looking at her❣️

I am so grateful my horse vet is helpful with my chooks, and thankful as a trained Nurse I have the knowledge to treat most things.

Both my horse Vet and small animal Vet have known me for decades and know I was a Nurse so they are good with me doing most treatments.

Two for Tuesday BFTP

I spent so much time with Coco today, I forgot to go lock up the others in the coop. I just did.
I found out that Coco has a broken toe. 😩 that’s why she limps around and doesn’t get too much exercise in the yard. She is such a sweet Rockette, but I think her dancing career is over. :(
Try and set the toe with a popsicle stick and bandage. Check once a week. We did that with Gaby. Slightly crooked but way better.

Awww poor wee Coco ♥️

I use that broom to sweep the hay away from where Reenie spills her grain when she eats, easier to keep it handy there.

Also any spilled grain I sweep into the alleyway for the chooks to pick at.
