They are lovely.

But I feel Astor is too sleek for an Australorp cross even. She has to have some sleek light breeds in her.

♥️
Could she be a White Plymouth Rock? Do they fly well? Have to say my BR flies worth crap. But maybe the white are more streamlined…?

No. Its the birch tree in the courtyard of the complex. The magnolia tree did suffer greatly during the drought but it survived nicely. It should be fine going into next year.

Lone birch trees of this type do not survive long. This tree is 50 years old and is the only one for quite a distance around me.

Our weeping birch is what died here. The branches broke soooooo easily that it was the 1st tree we took out this summer when we started wood hauling. Even the chickens gave it space. I'm guessing that most types of birch trees are brittle once dead.

Pear, hold still! I want a good pic of your feathers!

I love the block wall, we don’t have them here, too expensive to build, the footings need to be 4’ down for frost heave protection; so that’s like building the wall twice!

But gosh I would so put up a block fence if I could! One the chooks couldn’t fly over 12’ high hahahahaha!
4 feet! We are only 2 feet here and I think that's too deep!

Do the neighbor's have any barred birds? Or did Nacho steal some of your girl's eggs (or your girls make deposits)?

Cute little darlings
I noticed that too. Tell tail white spots on their heads. I’m just waiting for the neighbor to ask for his birds back. Remember, “Nacho is (Not yours) or the chicks either.

I'm going to guess light brown, though I don't think she is an orpington (light beige), and might have leghorn in her (white), I suspect/will go with beige/light brown because that seems to be Bob's luck; Definitely NOT Blue nor Green, just because when he did have a blue egg layer - they only laid blue once in a 'blue moon'.
You know my chicken life so well. 😆

Hmmm I think birch also like more boggy soil so it did well for 50 yrs.

I might move my rhododendron bushes up to the Rooster Run, has anyone used them around chooks? I don’t think they would try to eat the leaves do you?
Does this source help? I've used this list for years. Helped me plan the kind of plants to avoid. Chickens will chew on anything green so I planned our foliage according to this list.

Rhododendron spp. (AZALEAS, LAUREL, RHODODENDRON); leaves; cardiovascular system affected by the resinoid andromedotoxin.

No he likely wouldn’t. Why does he have game birds? Is cock fighting legal in california? It’s illegal here, it’s rare to see game birds around - and when the police find fighting going on the birds are usually euthanized as the Roos are very aggressive and won’t go with other chooks. Even the hens are aggressive, and no one wants them as they are not good layers and don’t get along with other birds in the flock.

I know how frisky Mr LC is and I can only imagine a full sized game roo.

Beautiful birds though.
One of my friends in CA said that the people who live below them have a ton of roosters for fighting. Nothing can be done because government not gonna care.

Redwoods, Oaks and Pines! :frow That’s us.
Yeah, they're mostly in the upper part of Calif & mtns! We're on water restriction in So. Calif. every summer over a decade! What angers me is that schools & parks run their sprinklers full blast till it runs rivers into the street sewers while we residents get to use water sparingly only 2 days a week!
Govt!
