All it takes is one Sparrow to tell his buddies where the seeds are & 70 Sparrows descend onto the yard ~ the little vultures!

Whereas, Doves, Crows, Mockingbirds, Phoebes, can keep a secret & never bring buddies!!!

What I would give to have that many stepping stones for my yard!:old

No. And with the tiny size, huge eggs and shell problems, I'm honestly glad. Her canny smarts HAVE been shared with all, which I'm glad for. She also educated Hector very early in his idiocy, turning him into a good boy much earlier than most roos. (Squashed by his large body, squirmed out from under him and played Karate Kid to his face with a double kick, drawing blood down his wattles). He didn't try the grab and squish technique again. And I never saw Whiskey try it either...he may have seen it, also..
Oh yes she is very petit, gorgeous really.

I loved hearing the stories of her doing this, she sure was a character. Hopefully the other ladies learned some ninja chickie moves from her ♥️

3.5 (4 end of May). Now I have to sit down and figure out the rest.

Cheetah, Blanche, PITA, Nellie will be 4 in May also. Storm will be 4 in July.

Pear turned 4 in early Aug (will be 5).

Hector, Belladonna, Primula, and Mera will be 3 in March. Lark, Indigo, Whiskey, Pippa, and Maizie will be 3 in June.

Tuff, Havoc, Enigma, Shan, and Chia will be 2 in May. Cardhu, Cumulo, and Nimbus will be 2 in July.

Kate, Jane, Blurr, Focus, Hetty, Hyacinth, Violet, Daisy, and Rose will be 1 the end of Feb. (Has it been that long already?)
Wow Tuff and the crew 2 already?! Time flies for sure.

Found one of those hand warmers in my coat pocket…. So surprised it didn’t break!
I've done that before! It's why we got @SimpleJenn 's Silkie basket collector! & the eggs are cushioned no matter which way it stands or hangs ☺️

It was 8° F when I got up... down to 7° now. The hair in my nostrils was covered with frost and stuck together with two breaths when I walked Freya this morning.

I wonder if the chickens knew it would get this cold? Button, my last hen to molt, had been sleeping in a nest box (allowed when they're molting). Last night at lock up, I saw her next to a Bielefelder on the roost.
Frozen nose hairs 👃 Wow! Time for a face ski mask I reckon!

Those stones are just a drop in the bucket. We figure 6 to 7 pallets worth were used in the front yard alone. Lost count for the back yard but boy! it was the best $$$ spent. I don't recommend these for snow country as they expand/contract & will crumble but have been great for our milder climate zone.
