It’s crazy that I can pet Mr Wyandottey on the back all day long, but if I touch his feet he attacks and bites me. I don’t know why. I raised him from two days old. Where would he have picked up such a fear? :idunno
Maybe his feet are ticklish?

Pasture rotation, land was available at the right time, retirement plot getting some use (and manure enrichment) out of it while saving to build, leased out to someone else....lots of reasons
I understand soil enrichment, land rotation, etc as I'm a farm child ~ but to not have someone on the premises to care after the livestock? & foist responsibility on a neighbor not for a day or two but for much longer? I can't see that part. I must have lived in a different era of farming where an owner took whole responsibility for their orchards, crops, & livestock or hired workers if they are called away. JMHO.
