Karen just wanted babies. She wanted babies from the time she started laying at 6 months old. Spring, summer, fall or winter she had one thing on her mind. While I had her the timing just was never right. You want to set now? I have 4 hens already running around with chicks are you crazy...no. You want to set there? Are you crazy, that is a horrible spot, no. Karen, it is December and below freezing do not even think about it. For the love of god Karen here we go again, no. Every time she took weeks to break and when she would start back laying I was lucky for her to last a week.

Betty is thrilled to have a hen who wants to raise chicks. I hope this time next year Karen has not made her change her tune.

Gosh I am doomed then with Georgie!

I never would have suspected she would be so determined for babies.

So far Mrs LC has no interest in Mr LC or babies - she just wants to be cuddled

[Grandma The Chicken]

Poor Mozzarella. Last night, she bent and broke her toenail and there is blood everywhere you look.

Even on her. She looks like she got attacked by a bear.

Some good news now, I was looking for Tony and Mozzarella and both of them weren't in the coop. Only Grandma and Parmesan. When I turned around, Tony popped out of the shelf she was hiding under and Mozzarella slithered out of the same spot Tony was hiding in too. It was like playing mini hide and seek, except we weren't actually playing.

They would love to have chickens but alas they live in town and no chickens allowed. They also live over an hr away now so they don’t visit much anymore.

So chicken opportunity’s are not great for them.

Everyone needs chickens! If it wasn’t so, I would tell you. There would be less war with having chickens
There would be less street violence if everyone had chickens
There would not be any price gouging for eggs, if everyone had chickens.
So, if you are reading this: GO GET SOME CHICKENS!!

Gosh I think she has actually broke the end of her toe - I had a youngster do that a few yrs ago. Lost the nail, took forever for his toe to heal up.

Sure hope she is ok. Just make sure that toe doesn’t get cold and frost bitten in this cold snap.
