Well... Magrat just squatted! Gytha and Aliss still act like my hands are lava any time I reach toward them 🤣

Magrat also napped on my lap for a few minutes. Actually when I reached down to pick her up is when she squatted! When I put her on my lap she stayed in squat position for 30 seconds or so, silly girl. And then she relaxed, tucked her wings back in, and closed her eyes... Then I noticed she has a little bit of dried urates on her back 🤦‍♂️ who pooped on my little girl?!

Ope
Is this a good price for the rarer color chances? View attachment 4035860

People in the FB chicken groups have good opinions of buying eggs through ebay.

😆 gonna start making some egg baskets and collecting aprons and see if I can sell a few!
They look to be English orps which will run a bit more then American style. Very fair price for those chocolate laced. Good price for the blue ones too. While the price may seem steep to some for eggs, it is the cheaper way to go. I shudder to think what a day old chick costs. If I were looking orp hatching eggs I would be very tempted at those prices.

A simple trick: approach the chickens from under their beak, and not their back. They will be more responsive and relaxed this way. Don’t tell anyone else my secret.

They're wary of that, too. None of them have been very touchy for the most part though, except Esme. She doesn't protest when I pick her up and put her down. The others will try to kick themselves out of my arms and flap their wings wildly like I'm dropping them from the top of the Empire State Building 🤣 but Esme sits still like a reasonable chook. I'm actually surprised Magrat didn't protest at all when I picked her up. She seemed to almost be in a trance for a minute though, until she relaxed.

Yes I think I might go for the chocolate laced orps. I could potentially sell two or three if needed. With them being rare I think even a roo would sell.
I've heard orps, cochin, marans, and polishes are the best roosters if you have kids. Kiddo is big enough to help with the chores and she got her own pair of mucking out boots for Christmas.

Steak and lobster is a good option for training purposes :D
