People in the FB chicken groups have good opinions of buying eggs through ebay.

😆 gonna start making some egg baskets and collecting aprons and see if I can sell a few!
Dunno about prices, but that 1st pic is a BLUE not Lavender bird. The dark head is the main indentifier.

Your prices sound reasonable to me since we spent $145 for one DNA-sexed female Silkie Ginny:

Ginny wasn't much to look at as an advertised Buff-Blue Partridge chick but today at over 4-yrs-old she's our largest fluffy Silkie

Happens here a lot with buildings not properly built/engineered for this climate - usually those fabric tent like sheds.

They are popular here as Barnes, sheds, and storage areas, but need to be properly engineered for this climate and installed correctly.

Houses also have been known to collapse, but not as much these days with strict building codes.

And that wasn’t even that much snow on that roof! Obviously poorly built, looks like no collar ties or internal bracing to prevent the walls from popping outwards.

Could just as easily happened in a high wind/rain situation.

Extremely glad no one was injured 😳

Yep, all those birds are great. Even the little Silkie has the heart of a big chicken though common sense we do monitor them out of the cold/rainy weather.

Chantecler are a pretty good layer for a meaty cold climate bird & Cackle Hatchery (MO) will have straight run chicks available February 12 w/a limit of 20 per order. I wanted Chantecler in the past but they have only recently been available in USA.
If I were raising for meat I would have them, they are pretty hardy, and of course pullets can be kept for laying.

But seeing as how I am limited with no place to process birds then I won’t be raising any.

Meanwhile seems my older ladies have finished moulting and have been coming back online. Between yesterday and today I have 3 dozen eggs!
