Oh yes I know what you mean. In the summer I close the windows in the barn to lessen the sound for the neighbours. He crowed at 0:200 and again at 0:500 he’s loud, so I took him back outside to the coop
Oh such memories of these ladies, now only Hattie is left.
Bob I cannot believe I have not lost one egg to freezing yet this year! Last year it was so mild but I lost 2 that froze and cracked.I lost one last night that froze.
Agreed - Mr P is such a good boy, and even Bert (who admittedly was only 1/2 polish) was a lovely Roo with the ladies. And his sister Betty is a cheeky little thing but very sweet. They all are very nosy about what's going on and are not afraid to go exploring - and they look gorgeous!I cannot recommend them enough. They have the activity and curiosity of a leghorn and in my experience are not fearful of humans. They are sweet chickens and decent layers of medium white eggs.
I LOVE the look of frizzles, but I'd never have them here. Unless they could be house chickens. But that won't happenJust don't get Frizzles! Too much worry about the cold with them, Clyde, Curly and Betty give me nothing but worry with them being cold.
Well to be fair, I do worry every time I have to do some intervention I know the risks that can happen but those risks a less than not if I didn't do anything, have to say, dealing with the chickens is much safer than the horses! You are amazing! You do that like it's no big thing.
Poor Penelope. Thanks for giving her some relief.
Not sure why they (govt and producers) are not pushing for this here, it's such a simple measure and likely highly cost effective. sheesh! They are slow because chickens don't matter. They are "less than".
Containment has failed spectacularly but they refuse to budge. The Chinese are vaccinating their poultry.
