These boys are not Branch and they never will be. I have came to the conclusion it was the best thing in the world that he gave me 6 daughters. Branch had such a hold on my heart and no other rooster can ever live up to him. I would have always compared a son of his to him and it just would not have been fair. These boys, I will get to know them. I know me and silkies, I will fall for them and fall hard. I will not compare them unfairly to a irreplaceable rooster who I will miss forever. I did not mean too, but I did that with Drumstick and Bubba. Bubba was a wonderful boy, built better then his father and I am glad I had him. He was not Drummie and it was not his fault. Now that he is gone I realize I did not appreciate him enough for who he was as a individual.

How I feel after losing my cat and dog who I miss every single day...
We can never ever replace the loved ones that have left us.
We can only learn by any mistakes we have made (and I made many) and love them as individuals for exactly who they are are the and this company and comfort that they are giving us today

I love you Nancy Rose, you are a very precious little girl

I will not. Tonight they needed to settle in first. The car ride traumatized them. The last thing they needed was for me to have a camera in their face taking 100 pictures. I have everyone put up for the night now. I actually put sawdust and hay in their box and put them back in it tonight. I do not want them part of the mad rush in the morning when I open up the coop. They need a few days to get settled and learn where home is. I also need to see just how easy they are in a small space to handle. I tell you right now when I spooked Barbosa earlier if the coop door had been opened I would have had a hard time catching him.

Barbosa from the original breeder video you posted showed he was pretty mellow coming toward the camera & walking away from the human hand & not really spooking. Davy's comb is really unique, good photo captures cuz its hard to keep Silkies still.

The Dumplings
The best I could do, they just don’t want to sit still! Or ‘hey look this way’ 😊

They both like to snuggle on my lap, poopy feet and all.
Silkie chicks are great snugglers.

Amber, our disabled chick, would pull on our pant leg when she wanted us to pick her up.

Daisy is an Americana, she is one of the chicks one of my egg clients bought for his daughter. Rosario was the other chick.

So both of them were raised away from a normal flock, and didn’t learn flock etiquette.

She gets along fine during they day, it’s just at night at roost time she has issues. But I move her over to the quiet girls and she’s fine. Silly chook, if only she would go next to those in the first place.

She is such a beauty. There's a sweetness in her expression.

Give her a taste of jam as a reward for keeping you company. We give our girls a little taste of blueberry jam sometimes. They love fresh blueberries so the jam is a winner. Just a taste of jam ~ don't want them bouncing off the walls from a sugar rush!
Are you out of your freaking mind? Jams and jellies are a traded commodity where I’m from. I have one jar of homemade blackberry jam left, and what the birds don’t know, they won’t miss!! Share your stash with them if you want, but they are not getting any of mine!
