Kiddo named the little runt chick Slowpoke, because it just needs a little more time to get itself together.
Well, yesterday and today Slowpoke has been out with the big chicks and keeping pace. Maybe we should have named it Ketchup (catch up)

Size difference between slowpoke and their siblings.
That is a little chickie. Silkie adults can range in size & weight from 2.0 to 3.0 lbs w/ 2.5 being the usual size. You may indeed have a small Silkie at maturity if there are no visible health or disability issues. So sweet, I just want to cradle her 24/7.

Chicken eyelashes? Not really ~ maybe some teeny tiny feathers over the eyelid but not truly eyelashes like an ostrich or a secretary bird.

So what do the birds have instead of eyelashes? They do need to protect their eyes somehow right?

For the protection of their eyes, they have a perfectly built system that consists of extra eyelids that act like a built-in goggle.

So they have the upper and the lower lids just like us, and then an extra eyelid beneath the outer eyelids, which is called the nictitating membrane.

It comes down like a visor in a car to protect the eyes of the bird from foreign airborne particles.

Interesting- thanks for sharing!

My dad has a friend who works at the gas station he goes to daily for his cigs. When we told her we got chicks this past summer, she supplied us with a ton of egg cartons, hand sanitizer, and sanitizing wipes. She's such a sweetheart. We've given her a dozen eggs and will continue to share with her ❤️

Well apparently the other day she went to an Amish market, and she bought this for us 🤣

Love it! My parents asked when they can start bringing scraps over for the chickens 😆 I told them April at the earliest!
