I have to admit that we also have one of those expensive pots in use by the chickens. It's why I recognized it so quickly. Of course ours was damaged first.

My hens can somehow still flip it over.

Therefore it is mostly used as a step.

That’s a heavy pot! My mother had one of those for spaghetti cooking 🧑‍🍳

Hello, everyone. I came on here before going to bed to tell you all something that happened with the chickens today since I have no new photos. So, I went to give the chickens dried mealworms and what do I encounter? A very hungry Parmesan. I'm stroking Grandma since she was sitting in the coop and I wanted her to come eat, but oh that Parmesan just won't resist. A simple "get out of here!" won't stop her. Of course, I fed the four of them and now I hope they are sound asleep.
Jealousy 😊

I have a bunch like that. Brats!

I’m telling ya, they’re making me angry and I’m gonna go mid evil on their furry butts!! 🐁🏰
Time to put out a bunch of traps, methinks. Snap traps, electric traps... Mouse hunting chickens... 😂

Keep goodies in sealed tupperware containers for now. Mice can chew thru them but probably won't if theres other stuff that's easier for them to get to. And the stuff that's easier to get to just happens to be very tasty... And in the traps... Peanut butter works wonders for us.

Put traps at the backs of cupboards, behind furniture, in corners, places where the little guys tend to stick to. Sometimes we get multiple in one night, sometimes we go a couple weeks without getting anything. Look for mouse droppings and crumbs, and that's where they probably spend a lot of time so it's a good spot for a trap.

As long as you dont use poisoned bait you can throw the dead mice to the chickens. If they get a taste for mice then they might become avid mouse hunters 🤣

I use pheromone bait in my traps, it works pretty well! Screenshot_20250226_105653_Amazon Shopping.jpg

We trapped a rat yesterday in the garage & last night heard one in the attic...talk about biblical pestilences!!! If it gets hungry it will eventually find the baited trap too!!! Every year we battle a different pest ~ one year ants, another year spiders, another year beetles, another year crickets, another year a flood of feral cats, on & on every year some new issue! The cats are okay but not if they yowl at midnight, 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m., etc. Maybe that's what scared the rat into our attic! Cats ~ you guys are supposed to CATCH rats, not SCARE them!

Not if it was mice, chocolate isn't toxic to rodents. I used to give little pieces to my rats as a very rare treat ☺️
Then mice must have the constitution of a Rhino! A lot of animals have a toxic reaction to chocolate...

Ditto!

Surgery went well, I'll be going home in like a half-hour forty five minutes range.
I can breathe with my whole throat, it's amazing. I've never been able to before, my tonsils have always been at least double average size.

I wonder if I'll have any new pips and hatches today!
YAY!! So happy for you! And excited to see more fresh chickies ❤️🐣🐤🐥
