Everyone looks so happy, Spring is in the air! I can’t blame them, I am looking forward to the explosion of greenery, flowers and some sunshine!

I got some news from the breeder. She has goodly number of eggs that are developing well. Hatch day should be April 1st and she will ship them about 2-3 weeks after hatch. She also sent some pictures of some of her flock I will share them of course.

I will take some advice I got and just wait on Bantams for now and see how everything goes.

Now for the colorful eye candy:

I think you are right, Fluffy is a frizzle. My question is this. How has nobody, not even yourself caught that yet? Years worth of pictures of Fluffy and she just now starts looking all frizzly?

I am now 100% ok with George not being a frizzle. Frizzle's just cause headaches that I do not need, especially after learning that the silkied feather texture can also be a frizzle.

I will admire Curly, Betty, Clyde and now Fluffy from afar and secretly want them but never act on that wish.

I also think you are right on Georgie being Marty's daughter. I so desperately wanted the Marty eggs to be fertile last spring. I will forever be Marty's #1 fan. Maybe not this year, but, at some point please let Georgie hatch her own chicks to keep Marty's bloodline going.

Currently Clyde can only safely breed and hatch from Marty and Georgie and possibly Holly and Jolly who I am leaning towards pullets.

I know it is a chance to have frizzles pop up, but Clyde the terrible crossed with Marty or Georgie....a girl can dream.
I know right?! Until Clyde I never thought of the silkie feathers being frizzles, I always thought they looked
Like Curly am Betty!

I need to dig up some older Fluffy pics. I know she has been looking rough from Roos breeding her and now that she is just in with Mr P she has moulted and grown in her glorious white feathers. Also seeing the babies and their fluffy smooth white feathers coming in just looked different to Fluffy.

Gosh I do hope those dumplings are pullets - first off I don’t want to deal with more Roos, and secondly I have grown fond of the white fuzzy colour.

Oh my ! They are eye candy for sure - pretty pretty pretty!

This morning the Northern Peepers are out croaking and chirping! Normally I would say this is my cue for Spring, but I don’t know, it doesn’t feel like Spring. I think the ground was insulated from developing deep frost, so they were able to come out of hibernation earlier than normal.

If the Barn Swallows come back early then I will accept it is Spring.

Yesterday with all the Robins and Woodpeckers flying about, I was extremely worried about the chooks. But I have come to realize I need to chance some things.

Have an awesome day everyone - heading to work now.

I have came to the conclusion that in time I will also strive to add in a white silkie. Black will always be my favorite color. I have grown very fond of my partridges having had a buff, then silver and now gold. With the addition of Davy I can safely say I also adore blue silkies. I will get chocolates this year. I made the mistake of seeing them in person, definitely on my "must have" list. Thanks to Davy if I can hatch off a Blue pullet next year Splash's could be possible....yes please.

I also want in no particular order....
Buff
Red
mottled
paint
barred or cuckoo
Lavender or self blue.

Basically anymore to me whether it be recongized or not if it comes in a color in silkies, I WANT IT. Maybe not red pyle.....those are still iffy to me. Whites are a must have in the next year or two though.

Sigh, I still find it hard to believe how hard I have fallen for the silkies. 4 years ago now, they were ALL ugly weird alien chickens. Whites were the ugliest of all and yet here I am plotting to add whites. Dang it, it is all Branch's and Poppy's fault, may they rest in peace.

Hey I only wanted 2 or 3 wee chickens to entertain me. Now look at me! The crazy horse lady is now the crazy chicken lady. Dealing eggs in the car park in secret 😉🤭

Someone on BYC has barred silkies - let me see if I can find them….
