I miss Phyllis. :love
I do too. There’s a special place in my heart that is vacant now that she’s gone. :(

We do miss our bygone friends...my current list of missed chicken sweeties has over 15 names on it. & when our current birds are gone it will be over 20 ~ that's not counting pets of other species we've lost over the years. Each one was special & unique 💕

Our Gold Laced Polish is 5 weeks and change. I am not seeing wattles, not really even a comb, so maybe there is hope yet!

Someone else in a different thread mentioned that a single polish isn't a good idea because they could be picked on, can you weigh in on that?
Polish are generally classified gentle as are Silkies, Faverolles, Cochins, etc, & do tend to be breeds that get taken advantage of. That's a generality but I took that info to heart & tried to keep at least 2 of each breed in our more recent flocks. Alike timid breeds seem to form their own tribe & toodle away from more assertive breeds in the yard.

We overcame a couple hrs of driving through all sorts of rain 🌧️ and completed our quest to obtain Silkie chicks.

There is an incredibly tiny fluffy butt in these pics for Friday.

So cute! You know how I love Silkies 💕 I hope they are both girls. We got our 1st Silkie chicks as day olds from a homeschool mom & one was a boy & one was a girl. When grown the cockerel was overmating the one female & we had to sadly return the male as he was also a noisy frequent crower too. We aren't zoned for roos :( If both are boys or both are girls it will be better than a boy/girl combo. Those Silkie boys are sweeties but horn*y little scoundrels😟 & one female is not enough.

Spoke with the blue silkie breeder, we have (so far) 3 girls, one confirmed cockerel, and 1 probably cockerel.

And Slowpoke, confirmed cockerel.
Love that blanket rack for them! I just thought about the poop factor from overhead! They might get to liking the rack more than roosting inside the coop :D

Status update: the tiniest of the tribe are fast asleep under mama.
The Rockettes are fed, happy and sleeping in the coop. The six in the middle are mixed in with the Rocks. It’s been a very long day and I am exhausted. 🥱
My chicken sitter is in love with my tribe, especially the little ones.
Does she have room to adopt 3 or 4 of them 💕 ?
