I still think pullets for both.I too am playing a waiting game with my silkie chicklets. No crowing yet at 15 weeks.
And who knows how long to wait for an egg, Rebecca’s pullet was just shy of a yr when she laid her first egg!
In the meantime they are cute and precocious, and moulting!

Yes Poppet almost made me wait until she was a year old for that first egg. It was well worth the wait though. 7 for 7 pullets from the 7 chicks hatched from her.

I have raised chicks for 9 years, and except for chicks raised by their mamas, I have never given them chick grit until I introduced other foods besides chick crumbles to them, usually at 7 or 8 weeks. I have even read that if I want to give them scrambled eggs as a treat prior to that time that they won't require grit to digest it.
