I let the girls out for about an hour... But I got hungry so I got them back in the run so I could have some bread (I was right, it's a little dense/doughy in the middle but not undercooked. I like it!)
No pics of them outside (phone was charging) but here they are begging to go out again just now

...And Gytha.
I once saw a Tortoiseshell Silkie!
I always planned to stay w/ the SOP APA colors cuz I was afraid all the crossbreeding to get other colors might change the natural good docile temperament of Silkies. Already there are great discrepancies nowadays in Silkie sizes alone.
We naturally love our 3 newest Silkies but they are different sizes/weights & not all are quite the same sweet temperament of my original Silkies from 14 yrs ago ~ only our one Blue Silkie has what I would call the original docile sweet temperament & like our original Partridge from decades ago has the smarts to avoid tangling w/ any assertive personalities. The Blue has been the smartest since a chick. I have always loved BBS varieties best in other chicken breeds too.

Cover the area w/a junk piece of plywood sheet or heavy flattened cardboard box & anchor it w/ brick or big rocks. She'll still go under but can't dig holes ~ at least there'll be no holes so it's easier to move her out when you need to. These hens love their hidey holes! We've had to use sticks before getting hens out.Let's just say I had a hard time getting her out of the trailer. She was scared of the stick but regardless, she returned to her hole. I really should call it a pothole but it's not a road.
Including the human animalI’m wondering why we chose chickens for pets? They seem to be dinner for just about every other animal on earth![]()
That is one fruitful tree! I'm a little envious of all those lemons.![]()
Citrus trees are annoyingly prolific. There are always basketsful in front of neighborhood homes w/ signs "FREE" ~ oranges, tangerines, lemons, grapefruit, kumquats. It's just the Pomegranates that have such delicate blossoms that the Spring winds tear most blossoms off the branches before the heavier fruit can form! To get enough fruit we had to plant THREE Pomegranate bushes to get a decent harvest. It's no wonder Pom's are expensive in markets! They’re free, come take as many as you like.![]()
