Forgot to post this for Wattles Weds.

Stopped for feed after work Tues and saw this. Promptly thought of everyone unable to keep roosView attachment 4117731put a Bluetooth speaker in him and play some of our Crow-off video sounds. The neighbors can't complain without looking like idiots.

If I was to see a chicken standing on one leg in a dandelion field, I’d probably faint! Dandelions are weeds to a lawn, and you know how I feel about the missing foot stance.

When I woke up this morning, I wanted to hear a song, so I turned to YouTube and listened to “ghost chickens in the sky “!

Good morning everyone.

Oh my goodness, I just snuck a peek into the incubator and I am in shock. I have 8 out, 1 very fresh and wet and cannot tell the color yet. Those that I can tell the color on...5 solid blue and 2 no doubt blue partridges. I'm stunned and very blessed with a good selection of chicks. I originally hoped for 2 or 3 blues to keep and grow out in hops of pullets. Now, I think I will hold back 4. 2 solid blue and both those little blue partridge chicks. I think in about a hour I am going to take a chance and remove 5 of the chicks and put them in the brooder. They are very active and need to come out as they are bumping the eggs around.

Dandelions are good for your yard, lawn or otherwise! They attract beneficial insects like pollinators, their long taproots bring nutrients from down deep in the soil closer to the surface, and they aerate the soil so it doesn't get too compact. If you see a lot of dandelions growing in a specific portion(s) of your lawn, there's a good chance they're taking advantage of a spot where other plants struggle to grow, and they'll improve that area!

I know that “I’m losing my mind”
When:
My bran new socks already have chook poop stains.
I turn up the volume control, so hopefully the program will load faster.
I find that the adult chooks like the baby chick feed, and the babies want the all flock feed!
I’m realizing that the chook poop doesn’t smell that bad after all.

Dandelions are good for your yard, lawn or otherwise! They attract beneficial insects like pollinators, their long taproots bring nutrients from down deep in the soil closer to the surface, and they aerate the soil so it doesn't get too compact. If you see a lot of dandelions growing in a specific portion(s) of your lawn, there's a good chance they're taking advantage of a spot where other plants struggle to grow, and they'll improve that area!

The customers who pay for my gardening services prefer a manicured lawn without any additional dandelions. Go figure.

It is good for your business but sad really. Those nice neat manicured yards are pretty without any weeds but not for me. My yard is full of *weeds* but it is good for the bees, horses, chickens and frankly people. I have dandelions, thistle, plantain and several other edible weeds or greens that my grandmother called weird names. Speckle dock or speckle dick, she used both variations for the same plant and I forget some of the rest but I know the plant when I see it. Every spring for the last 13 years when she was not physically able to get down on the ground herself she would grab a chair to sit in the middle of the yard and point. I would fill up a 13 gallon trash bag or two for her of wild greens to cook. She would cook them like she did mustard from her garden. Some I liked, dandelions and the blue thistle are very tasty on their own. Some to me were a bit bitter and I could do without. Back then it was a bit annoying, but I never complained. I also learned how to cook them as well. Last week I was out in the yard and out of the blue I spotted a thistle. I then started looking and there everything was, all of it up and enough to easily fill up a garbage bag. I came very close to grabbing a knife and grocery bag and start picking away. I miss doing that now, and I almost craved a bowl full of it.

I think this is more about respect for grandmother, than a bunch of weird weeds.
