NPIP is not a thing here in Canada, and vax of backyard flocks also not a thing, next to impossible to get them for your poultry here. Only factory farms can get hold of any vax, and generally do not even bother as they are inside, broilers are processed at 6-8 weeks and layers are processed at 1.5 yrs just before they do their first moult.

Breeders of fancy birds don’t have access to vax unless they somehow get hold of it, and use of gender DNA testing is generally not done. People are not generally going to pay the expense of getting a day old chook for $50 to 100 - average price here is about $12 - spending more than $20 is unusual.
I’ll bet you could make a fortune running drugs into Canada 🇨🇦 antibiotic, vax, and anti fungal drugs

Tippy’s days of making a break for it will end as of tomorrow. I am fixing the Rooster Run and putting up netting to stop her and Butterscotch from flying the coop.

Love these photos especially the line of Floof butts!

Practicality is to add at least 3-4 more Silkies. As adults they will form their own little tribe usually. & since Silkies go broody at odd schedules that leaves more leftover to toodle around together in the yard while 1 or 2 are in broody boxes. But it sounds like you're already aware of that 💕 . We certainly are enjoying our Silkie ladies so much... & they come in so many colors too.

I have notifications set up from Meyers hatchery, they are sold out (all colors) at the moment. They sell sexed silkie chicks and I can drive up to go get them as they are in Ohio. I don’t particularly want to risk more boys if I can help it.

In past years I have been able to re-home very easily but so far, I have had zero luck this year. I have had no response from anyone on my xtra Roos. :(

Had 50mph sustained winds with gusts of 80mph last night. Thankfully we didn't end up with storm damage, just a few things knocked over.

All the chickens are fine, other than the metal rooster tipping over haha.
I almost messaged you last night, to STAY SAFE! That wall of wind on the lakeshore was CRAZY! All we got here was a downpour and nonstop lightning. Hardly any wind. Lots of tornados touched down on the west side of Michigan but nothing higher than F1, I believe. I was watching the Michigan Storm Chasers live on youtube for a good few hours yesterday evening/last night.

The chickens love to eat them though!
