It is a member of the mint family. You can eat the greens in a salad or cooked (supposedly better before it flowers.), and in a tea.

I was thinking of making a salad with mixed greens from my yard (or maybe mixed cooked greens)? Dock should be cooked

Creeping charlie, garlic mustard, plantain, dock ( 2 varieties), dandelion and sorrel...should be a good mix - lots of flavor! I'm tempted to put in artemitis (sp?), as I am pretty sure that is what is growing here (thanks, RC for you posting on it at your place), but since I am not 100% sure, I don't want to risk it in case I'm wrong.

If I don't like it - I can always feed it to the chooks tomorrow.

I can also add in a few daylilly roots! ( taste somewhat liek green beans - should eat them sparingly. Safe, but can act as a purgative, so small amounts is good.)
W/ grocery prices what they are maybe we should all learn what to eat out of our yards! Our hens weren't interested in the weeds ~ they wanted the cutworms!

Okay, so let me provide an explanation as to what's going on.
So, today I'm still not getting any better. I feel like talking it out and trying not to think about it too much helps. Food doesn't quite help. Yesterday, an appointment for the doctor has been made but I won't be going there until September 11th. My stomach feels fine now but I took a nap several hours ago and I woke up with a headache. I still have a mini headache, but hopefully I can sleep well. Now, here are pictures and I'll add in more pictures tomorrow, as well as a Caturday.

That are getting so big!!!! And that’s how it all starts with the garden diggers - a lovely flower pot and a pretty flower to nibble on. Turn your back for a few minutes and they have devoured it 😊👍

What breed did you say the grey is? She is a lovely colour, and that Americana is so cute - she’s gonna have a lovely beard and muffs ♥️

As for you’re not feeling well still I am so sad to hear this. Remember if you do not get better or feel really poorly go to Emerg, but I hope you feel better soon.

Those Silkies can't resist a dogpile, eh?!
Clyde joined his sweeties in a dirt pile yesterday 😆

The dirt was flying!

He adores Patches and Silver Bord and they only have eyes for him. It’s so sweet.

Wonder what chicks from them would look like??? Brown eggs for sure, topknots…. They would be grey - likely look like their mamas.

Anywhoooo not hatching eggs this year, not even for my niece’s school. Seems the school board has banned hatching eggs in the Kindergarten classes. Something about health risk - stupid people make me want to scream. There has never been one issue with health ever from having chicks and pets in a classroom.

When I was in school we had gerbils, hamsters, Guinea pigs, hatched ducklings and geese. Sometimes the teachers would bring their dogs in. Sheesh! Never ever had any issues with anything, not even allergies.

Kids these days are not exposed to enough dirt I say! When I was growing u we spent summer days out on the floating raft which the Gulls roosted on at night. First ones out there each morning had to clean off the raft deck of all that Gull poop.

Two of us would go opposite corners and start rocking the raft and get the corners under the water to slosh the water up onto the raft. It was a huge raft about 15’x15’ wooden deck welded steel frame floated with the use of 50gallon steel drums. It took some work to get it cleaned off. We would start sliding around on the wet wood and fall into the water full of Gull poop, inevitably swallowing some - ewww!

But we were never sick, and I guess all that poop cleaning is why I have no issues with dealing with horse and chicken poop now.

Yep those were the days! Then we would all lay out on that raft all day in the sun like seals, when we got hot we rolled into the water. Sometimes a stray Gull would join us hahaha. All is girls laying in the sun with the odd Gull just relaxing the summer away like seals on a beach.

Oh and best thing! Our parents couldn’t get to us unless they swam out which never did! Heaven!

Come join us Hooman!

I’m in the coop counting the chickens. All the littles are in. Every Rock is in except for flash. She’s a stubborn old hen. There are more in the yard, but the sun hasn’t set over the horizon yet.
I was a bit late getting out last night and the Buff Orps and others had pretty much gone into the hen house!

Still had to encourage a few to go to bed… but the overcast skies by then helped. It’s still light here at 9:30pm. Soon be 10 before it’s dark. ♥️
Gosh I love summer 🥰

A week ago all mine were mid roost-rumble by 8:20 every night and I had the auto door set for 8:30. This week 3 chickens have missed the door everyday. Here in Washington the sun won’t set until 10 pm by the solstice🌅
Oh how I loooove summer - long daylight hrs…. I worked in the far north were it wouldn’t get dark until midnight - glorious!

Mine are in enclosed in the barn and can get onto their Hen House on their own. I have to manually close their door. Which I do aroumd 8 when I feed the horses for the night.

Few nights ago Pepper sneaked out while I was shutting their door. She was in the main barn all night roosting on a stall wall. Likley safe enough, but I do worry about coons and weasels.

Sneaky! Playing jungle fowl.

I am eggcited to have my wall of pole beans again, help keep the barn cools and nothing like fresh beans and sugar snap peas.

They're blue...so is Clyde. 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash. It's that Blue, Black, Splash thing.

50% frizzled, 100% satin, 50% chance of throwing silkied offspring (I think on last one)

Possibly have some silver leakage from Clyde's silver.
