That's it. Just the two of us and @SimpleJenn , right?

Anyone else have Polish that I'm forgetting? Speak up. More Polish talk!

Polish were on my wish list of 400 wanted breeds. But in a zone limiting 5 hens/no roos it became a wee problem cycling thru those wishes. Do you know, we started only wanting two little bantams, either Cochins or Silkies, just as a couple little pets DH chose since he never had anything but a dog or kitty before. Yep chicken math hit but we always kept under the 5-bird limit. Somehow there was never an opportune opening to get two Polish chicks together & they were never offered at the feed store (we learned it best not to get just ONE breed chick by itself).

There was such a popularity over Silkies as far back as the '70's even shown in magazine ads w/celebrities, & when owners discovered their hardiness as well as their cuteness they became easily ready to find here. Besides layer breeds Silkies dominated as a bantam breed even though they are listed in the APA & not the Bantam assn. I think Silkies may even have started the U.S. trend to import rarer bantams & chicken breeds. Crested breeds really took off too. Polish almost went extinct until all those gorgeous European & game birds started getting imported.

Sadly, we'll never cycle thru the remaining 395 breeds on my wishlist 😕
One of the wonders of chickens is that there are so many different kinds. I'm not sure any of us will have all of the breeds we might want in our lifetimes.

Those Robin shells are so BLUE ❣️ That baby has Silkie fuzz on it ~ Clyde's not the daddy?

That fountain pathway is so pretty💕
Oi boy!!! I hope not! I’ll check in a bit to see if mama is back on the nest. I had forgotten about her and mowed the lawn earlier. Hope she is ok.

There used to be an ornamental pond there but mum hauled it out last year and filled it in and put shrubs there.

The Japanese yodeler is famous. He always carries a Leghorn, poor bird. Notice how pale the comb is? He has such a firm hold on her legs! As long as he's famous & making $$$ I don't think he cares a rat about her JMO.
Now I don't want to watch it. 😥

They are keeping you young and fit. :thumbsup
Giving me grey hair! Today it was so windy they stayed put for once. They don’t like the wind, harder to hear and see predators. I was glad they behaved I really needed to mow the grass. Sure hope I didn’t scare off mama Robin…. Just took a peek, she’s on the nest ♥️

That funeral, though highly honored by the United States Navy, was no help to me that day. My tears didn’t stop. God please protect my father in heaven. I was there when he accepted you into his heart. I pray that all people accept the love that Jesus Christ has provided for all of us.
Don’t take my word for it, just watch the news. But maybe take the Bible’s word for it!

Sooooo - I came ‘this close’ to getting 4 Black Mottled d’Uccles pullets - I couldn’t resist! But, alas, I missed out on them someone had already purchased them. Just as well, right now is not a great time for me to get any more pets.

But my neighbour up the road has a bunch of silver laced polish chicks - I think coming a month old. Maybe I’ll get a couple of those - see if she can hold them at her place for a bit. Till they are grown, it’s just a thought but we will see. Things are a bit Topsy-turvy at the moment, don’t need to be over extending myself!!!

But oh I would love a couple of these lovelies!

Even her crest is silver laced!
