It’s a requirement here to wash eggs that are sold. I don’t wash eggs that are clean, but any of the icky ones I do. Don’t want anyone to complain!

Mum keeps the small eggs from Mrs LC and the silkies for her baking, if they are dirty she doesn’t wash them until she uses them.

Do you refrigerate yours?
Not immediately. If they pile up too much, then I do, but don't have a hard and fast rule on that either.

2/4 coops are cleaned. I'm overheating so taking a break.

@BY Bob let HRH know we have more beards and cheekypoofs growing here. I've been giving them extra spicy food to help them grow!

The one in front with the blue tail and blue head, I'm keeping my eye on them.

Okay, back to work. Honestly the bad part is wheeling the wheelbarrow up the compost pile to dump it.
Wheelbarrow? Too unbalanced for me to push or control so we got this Gorilla Cart & so easy to maneuver w/no unsteadiness...love the dump feature too for this old lady to use!

We have two carts both 4 cu ft size ~ an old model & a new model. They come in bigger sizes but this is a comfortable size for me.

We use our eggs up too fast to refrigerate. Never wash the bloom off either so they stay nice in the skelter. DH made another pecan crusted quiche for me.

It depends on how dirty they look, or if it's raining when I collect them. I wash, scrub with a dedicated scrubdaddy, and towel dry them before refrigerating.
I wash every single egg, even store bought before cooking with them. Just a quirk my mom always did too.
Sam and Ella ! :old :D

Lost a blonde chick during the night, was with PITA. Donned my leather gloves, removed the body. She was surprisingly reasonable about that part....less so when I took the eggs from under her. She still had 1 baby. Cardhu was out with only 3, so I grabbed most of the ones running around Focus and gave them to PITA. Hopefully that gets her off the nest today and they all head out with the littles.
