Mugshot Monday
This is Walnut. She’s always the first to come running if she hears me cracking fallen walnuts under my boot. Sometimes if I see her following me I just start looking around for any unearthed nuts just for her. She’s a sweet girl.

Sweet and smart! :thumbsup

I’m on a mission now. To catch that little roo that we saved from the alley. (Name: Chick-Fil-A) he’s bleeding again and can’t keep up with the other chooks. It’s a nasty open wound on his back. If I can’t catch him and take him to the vet he’s gonna die for sure. I was able to throw him a strip of steak. He ran away fast with his prize.
Oh no! I hope I hear good news as I read up.

Mixed up some new nectar, took it out to refill that feeder. Had one hovering in front and one over my shoulder watching. That was a bit unsettling. Had one back on the feeder before I finished rinsing the container.

the other feeders are more sheltered (and less photogenic) so haven't been hit as hard. Won't need refilling until tomorrow/Thursday, I think...

This has got to be migration with a LOT of juveniles.

Be sure that it’s C&H sugar from Hawaii filling them feeders.

A sassy tail from Diva. She has decided she is a big bird and split from the other leghorns. Sleeps in the coop on a roost and everything. 20250715_091336.jpg
Cemani Riddick is out there thumping some young cockerels. He doesn't want them trying to breed the too young pullets.

Also, we had an incubator malfunction. I don't know how many eggs have failed yet. I'm going to wait until the 14 day candling to throw any out unless they get stinky.
