Candled tonight. 31 good eggs, Navy is a perfect 6/6 (like we expected anything else from her royal Beansness)
Looks like the malfunction wasn't as terrible as I had thought. Plus there were some seriously tiny silkie eggs, likely pullet eggs.
Periwinkle is COMMITTED
Not sure if I want to risk letting her have a nest in with Navy, might let her sit this round out and give her a chance another time. There will definitely be a next time.
I will let her be broody, poor lady needs a break from all the male attention. I have said it before and will say it again, they love beards!

Roadrunner laid her first egg today, minty green. She's a blue legbar then!

And a correction, Delft is the green layer, Periwinkle lays tan. They've both stopped for now but no green eggs since Delft came ill.

A Hatchday With No Party

Today is a momentous day. Hattie turned 7 today. She is likely the oldest chicken to ever reside at Fluffy Butt Acres!

Unfortunately, the weather has prevented any party as it is raining out.

So instead we will celebrate with photos of Baby Hattie!

Wattles Wednesday

Cotton has some impressive wattles, and I love the deep purple color.

His comb is leaning even more to the side now, and starting to push some of his feathers down over his eye on that side.

Nestle is looking pretty handsome. And he is still the better behaved of the two. I think I saw him try to start tidbitting today.

Dale and I are away for a few days. My son called me, my big chickens got out and some dogs came into the yard. They killed Roo, my Welsummer, Spazzy & my Rhode Island. Only Maybelline & Penny are still alive. He said Penny was pretty beat up. Something always happens when we leave. My poor Roo and girls. 😪

Miscellaneous news and pics.

I noticed tonight that one of the lavenders, Orchid, has an unusual comb. Not sure what type this would be and how they would happen.

The duck pool got an upgrade. Added a waterfall and spitting turtle for some circulation and filtration, and changed the block around it to match.

Cyprus’ feathers literally change every day, and he has some “drake curls” now.
