A Hatchday With No Party

Today is a momentous day. Hattie turned 7 today. She is likely the oldest chicken to ever reside at Fluffy Butt Acres!

Unfortunately, the weather has prevented any party as it is raining out.

So instead we will celebrate with photos of Baby Hattie!

Wattles Wednesday


Cotton has some impressive wattles, and I love the deep purple color.

His comb is leaning even more to the side now, and starting to push some of his feathers down over his eye on that side.

Nestle is looking pretty handsome. And he is still the better behaved of the two. I think I saw him try to start tidbitting today.

It's So Hot! Let's Take Our Feathers Off!

Sydney is smarter than the average hen. She has decided to have her annual molt now. What better time to be missing feathers than when it's 90+F outside.

Every time I let my chicks out to range, I wonder how any hen has ever managed to raise more than one or two at once without having a heart attack.

I wonder how I don’t have one from my two human children’s antics. This is motherhood regardless of species

Well - we just need some more peeps on here to hatch chickes to feed @Ponypoor chickie need.

@rural mouse 's will be beginning feathering out in a week or two (and be in my favorite stage - the fugly stage - and no - it is NOT short for what you think - it is short for funny/ugly stage - but they are so homely they are adorable in that stage

I will have cute baby floofs next week

I keep the head poof trimmed on my silkies so they can see. Mr P has the issue with one side of his crest sliding I’ve his left eye. I keep a close eye (yes pun intended) on that side to make sure he doesn’t have any infections or irritations from feathers in his eye.

I love the deep purple (mulberry) colouring also it’s so unique
