We had such a nice break from the humid heat and today it's back full force...

At least the humidity has dropped from 80% to 60% in the past hour. I'm ready for fall :th

Today's going to be a change the water every couple hours kind of day. And I was going to clean the coop but today isn't a good day for it. I don't want to get heatsick again. The chickens are keeping cool in the woods, the good girls. They know what to do to escape this heat!

That humidity sounds awful. We have low humidity, but triple digits. They are smart girls and pretty. 💗

Glad you're taking care of your health, heat sickness is not a good thing. :hugs

I need to go get the materials moved back into the coop or shed since there's rain coming this afternoon.

Sassy girls strutting their stuff!

Love these!
Right now we use buckets and rubber feed bowls in the main pen & enclosed pen. I need to repair our barrel waterer, it's in their enclosed pen.

It's been my experience, when flushing out the containers they run over and start drinking water on the ground, not from the clean containers...lol
They do prefer wild water or dirty water dishes. It's hard to keep clean fresh water for them.

Thirsty Thursday

I was cleaning water dishes today and realized I have more watering stations than chickens.

I have 8 in total as I had already placed 2 of them back into service.

It's takes me a long time to gather them all up, clean them, and then put them back. Here is where they are:
  1. Main Coop
  2. Cluckle Hut
  3. Big Run
  4. Grape Vines
  5. Magnolia Tree
  6. Deck
  7. Patio
  8. Lilac Bush/Shed
My hens have no excuse for not drinking. 🍸 🧉 🍷 🫖 🥛

How many water stations does everyone else have? Am I crazy?
Certifiable!

this little fellow is getting color
When I can get hubby to catch a photo for me...I have been wanting an opinion on one of my chicks. about 7 weeks old. At hatch I pegged 1 as pullet, one as cockerel. Cockerel stance, super big legs....but, I am not yet seeing any cockerel type feathers... and with Dad's top knot and an EE mom's muff & beards, I'm not sure.

@rural mouse I'm tempted to say all 3 are cockerels...but really would like either a better pic of the comb & wattles (side view?) of the blondie - or to get one in another week. Honestly, a bit of a toss up for that one ATM.

I've asked DH a number of times....he finally got a couple pics, but not of the WHITE MOM's chicks:rolleyes:...so....as soon as I have pics to share, I will be asking to pick your brains!!!!
