Beauties!

Isabel's eye (both to a degree) is definitely more noticeable in these pics. And concerning. :hugs:hugs:hugs:hugshang in there. She looks like she's enjoying life.

A Test

So I did an experiment tonight. I went and sat in the Phyllistines' roosting chair at dusk to see what they would do if it was occupied when they wanted to roost.

They came at me from both sides. They were very cross with me.

Nimue then tried to evaluate me as a roost.

I was found to be unsuitable and Nimue headed off to the coop taking Niamh with her.

However, Niamh wanted to ask one more time and came back out to see if I would change my mind.

I did not relent and she went into the coop and went to bed.
They are getting so big and (Phyllis like) :love

Which is why I do t have an exhaust fan over the stove. No rates plug there.
FYI: my stove hood fan motor burned out a while ago, and I can’t seem to find a replacement. The coop box fan failed also.
I was told by my friend at tractor supply company that they didn’t carry any gas weed wackers, because California legislators prohibit the sale. I went to ace hardware in town, and bought a new gas powered one there , was $324 bucks. (Are they selling illegal products?) :idunno
If I didn’t buy it, my weed wacky guy would be out of his job. We work well together.

At coop close, I found 3 chicks up on the high roost, Cardhu's black, and 2 new ones. PITA joined them....maybe feeling they needed parental supervision? One of the little daredevils rand off down most of the roost....started to settle at the other end, and got roundly thumped by Primula....then Belladonna as it slid between her feet on the roost...then encountered Enigma who was no more pleased....Tuff left it alone, but by that point it was in a mad scurry to get back to mama PITA.

It started to settle down, then managed to slip off the roost....and ended up BEHIND the crate on the floor. I started sliding the crate forward (setting the other 17 atwitter and sending Focus back out to the floor). Little bit turned out to be perched on a nub of cardboard halfway up the side of the crate....and was perfectly willing to step onto the more secure footing of my fingers when I reached back to scoop it up. I ended up with a black (well really dark) "parrot" on my hand. It had surprisingly good balance and didn't wobble when I lifted it up to rejoin PITA. I got a resounding NO, NOT STAYING UP HERE! when the little one refused to let go of my fingers.....and happily hopped off when lowered into the crate to join the rest.

Focus was keeping a close watch on this whole process from behind me, which I hadn't quite realized....so she sort of got stepped on when I took a step back to slide the crate back into place. I got chewed out for that and she joined the 18 in the crate. PITA stayed up on the roost with the other 2.

I'm anticipating the numbers on the roost increasing over the next few days.

Well shiver me timbers, your “parrot” almost made you an honorary pirate! 🧑🏻‍🏭👍🏼
:eek::gig

you mean like a string trimmer?
Yes just like a string trimmer (Stihl) brand. The ban on all gas powered lawn equipment started in 2024.
Maybe made a lot of new buyers really mad. We can still use existing equipment but can’t buy new ones.

Stihl is good I have a Stihl FS 130 and it works great, it was discontinued though, but its never been much issue.
my local ace hardware doesnt have them, but a local non chain farm store is a stihl dealer, as well as an old machine shop too.
just last month I took the ancient machine to them cuz the primer bubble broke and compression was too heavy from sitting so long now it works wonders again
I did a whole 1/4 mile fence row with one (I do not recommend)
I did that cuz one of my neighbors is too old to do it himself, but he put in an electric fence without taking out the whole old field mesh fence, so it cant just be mowed with a tractor

Time for bed, good night folks :frow
