Ok so Jenn is the most observant - I thought for sure on the weekend she would figure out I was priming you all for the broody buster chicks.

These are Noirans, a hybrid of Marans developed in France by Hendrix Genetics. They lay very dark brown eggs like Marans, and have feathered legs.

There were 5 but when I picked them up I noted one had passed during the trip to the store.

I have placed these under Georgie and Holly, Georgie is very good, Holly is not too sure what’s going on but so far she has been good.

Hopefully they will stop this foolishness of being broody for a couple months to get through this heat and humidity. And get Holly to start eating and put on some weight.

Wait till Marie sees this hahaha 😆👍
They are adorable. Hope this makes your girls happy! 💞💗💞

This chick feeder I added this year, the base seems to spill a lot of feed. Maybe because of the sloped holes, the upper feed container lets a lot of feed down and it spills over the lower edges with the lightest peck. Tons of feed and dust surround it.

One similar to this I’ve had for years and it’s working great, very little spilling. I think it must be the level holes makes the difference?

I’ve retired the other because with everyone outside I don’t want feed on the ground molding or attracting mice and I’ve cleaned it up three times. Kept the bottom one going - the pullets are too light still to use the treadle feeder. There’s also two Omlet “stick your head in” trough-type feeders they use too, those work cleanly also.

The adults are eating out of all of them - everything chick has been of great interest - they aren’t spilling anything, and Tedi is a super-sweeper.

What are your experiences with these?
I use both of those. Not a lot of spillage from this one when I use it.

The others I use all the time, year round. There is some spillage but not excessively so.

She and her sister are both so pretty. She's a fancy hybrid. I was going to see if you all could fugitive it out. She's called a Rainbow Egger. Excited to see what color eggs we will be getting. They didn't have pictures, so I had no idea what they were going to look like. We bought them from Dunlap Hatchery.

They were quite white with a little gray, but now they are starting to show a bit of creamy yellow. This beauty has a gray shawl across her back! 💗

Very lovely.

I have a few Azure Blue which are a leghorn x Auracana. They lot lovely blue eggs.

One has a topknot and they all three are Splash, this year they are getting even more black spots.

Two have floppy combs, and one has a straight comb.

Topsy has the topknot and floppy comb

I KNEW IT
I was being polite and not forcing you to post them before you were ready (well, I thought you had polish eggies for sure)

And am soooo tempted to drive back to the feed mill tomorrow and pick up two of the Guinea’s! One was a lavender 🥰

That is what happened to my one like the top one. I rigged it with an eye bolt to hang up and then the bottom fell off.
I have to say, I have been using those feeders for well over a decade without them coming apart like that. I am currently hanging them all with no issues. I have 4 of them in use right now.

They both look like they are Splash also. I wonder what cross they use - I almost got more Azure chicks for the broodies, but as I am not keeping the pullets I didn’t want to be tempted hahaha. Bad enough with those Guinea!

Oh I can’t wait to see what colour eggs your girls lay! I bet blue.

I have both those types, the blue one I find is hard to clean - shaving get it all bunged up. But if places on a brick paver this fixes that problem.
