I think my 5 year old black Australorps are laying. I thought they were done for the year! My "lounge lady" was in the nest for an hour or more, and sure enough! An egg!

Little, another 5 yo BA who lives up to her name by laying the littlest eggs, has gifted me with two. After taking June and July off. 🤷‍♀️

@Pastel the Rooster hath sent another message:
"Mighta done something…
Two of my friends (K and A is what we can call them 🤷‍♀️) and I are starting a poultry show team this year. We are working on building a coop at school and tomorrow one of my friends and I are buying our show chickens (the other friend isn’t getting hers until next semester.)

My two are the blue polish and porcelain D’uccle, and my friends (A) two are the Jubilee Orpington and black Polish.

I have no idea what breed/s my other friend (K) is going to buy when she gets her chickens, but I am so excited for mine and A’s chickens!

They should be hatching September 29th and we’ll get them a few days after when they ship!

I am so shocked that Dad is letting me buy these chickens, but he said that they will NOT come live on our property… if I no longer show them I am to get rid of them. 😒

I am splitting the cost of shipping with A and she is paying for her birds, so I am paying roughly $65 for these two birds and she is paying roughly $80 for hers, I believe. I didn’t do the math, I am just quoting what I think I heard her say earlier…

We are the first students in our county to start a poultry show team and I am so excited! I really hope that it goes well and that we can compete until we all graduate, which won’t be long… it’s both good and bad that we don’t have much longer in school lol. Time flies.

Anyways, I’ve really wanted a blue polish and a porcelain D’uccle for AGES so I am so freaking happy! Don’t get me wrong, I long my white crested black Polish, but I wanted blue or buff Polish… they only had black ones so I got those. I adore them but I’m so happy I’m finally getting my blue polish!! And I have a golden neck D’uccle but I really wanted a porcelain, so that also makes me super happy! I really wanted a Millie Fleur D’uccle but the hatching dates didn’t align so I went with the porcelain."

She added a addendum to the message:
"A few things changed though. The chicks are hatching September 3rd and my friend is getting a Millie Fleur d’Uccle and her white crested black polish.. not a Jubilee Orpington."
And asked me to share this image of the breeds she's buying:

kitten-sitter is unconcerned. Rubberneckers making LOTS of noise.

No dice, the Royal Kittencess must use a LARGE door on first stepping forth

So make a small omelette! :gig

Let’s not forget that Silkies are not real chickens. NOT really chickens!
They are feather dusters!

And it seems dirt busters and excavators. I just fell in a hole Holly and Georgie dug in the straw/shavings in the Summer House, I am lucky I didn’t twist an ankle!

I am going to suggest to roads dept hire them for grading and spreading dirt!

Hahaha so cute, and sooooo glad Castor is accepting her. Missy is afraid of the chickens ever since Roxanne pecked and chased her.

Do cicadas taste as good as meally worms on vanilla ice cream? (Just asking )

Well to be fair I have not had any luck catching one to give to the chickens. But they sure are noisy insects! I was thinking that it’s the middle of Aug and that means we could have frost now. And I have seen snow second weekend of September. I am really dreading winter.

Yes we desperately need rain, and yes it’s been ridiculously hot this summer. But if I had my druthers I’d rather have +30c instead of -30C.
