We owners do have high hopes for our chickens to do what we want but in the end they do their own thing, ehShe is but she's a lil dumb. I gave her a tub nest with 4 real eggs, dern girl ran off and gathered up her fakies in a different box. So she's sleeping in Riddicks coop tonight. I need to get her to at least stay out of the high nests, or I will be forced to broody break her.
The point of the tub nest is so she will bond with the new eggs and I can move it to a shorter coop. So it's important she be willing to use it!!!

On the plus side, the chicklets are happy to put themselves to bed. Two more weeks and then they'll be off heat and I may go ahead and put them in their integration pens. I'll look into it more...

Smartest cutest feather dusters we ever hadLet’s not forget that Silkies are not real chickens. NOT really chickens!
They are feather dusters!
Nope! That won't work... they're better at making potholes rather than covering them! And it seems dirt busters and excavators. I just fell in a hole Holly and Georgie dug in the straw/shavings in the Summer House, I am lucky I didn’t twist an ankle!
I am going to suggest to roads dept hire them for grading and spreading dirt!
Tell Pastel I'm rootin' for them all ~ both the ladies & the chicks@Pastel the Rooster hath sent another message:
"Mighta done something…
Two of my friends (K and A is what we can call them) and I are starting a poultry show team this year. We are working on building a coop at school and tomorrow one of my friends and I are buying our show chickens (the other friend isn’t getting hers until next semester.)
My two are the blue polish and porcelain D’uccle, and my friends (A) two are the Jubilee Orpington and black Polish.
I have no idea what breed/s my other friend (K) is going to buy when she gets her chickens, but I am so excited for mine and A’s chickens!
They should be hatching September 29th and we’ll get them a few days after when they ship!
I am so shocked that Dad is letting me buy these chickens, but he said that they will NOT come live on our property… if I no longer show them I am to get rid of them.
I am splitting the cost of shipping with A and she is paying for her birds, so I am paying roughly $65 for these two birds and she is paying roughly $80 for hers, I believe. I didn’t do the math, I am just quoting what I think I heard her say earlier…
We are the first students in our county to start a poultry show team and I am so excited! I really hope that it goes well and that we can compete until we all graduate, which won’t be long… it’s both good and bad that we don’t have much longer in school lol. Time flies.
Anyways, I’ve really wanted a blue polish and a porcelain D’uccle for AGES so I am so freaking happy! Don’t get me wrong, I long my white crested black Polish, but I wanted blue or buff Polish… they only had black ones so I got those. I adore them but I’m so happy I’m finally getting my blue polish!! And I have a golden neck D’uccle but I really wanted a porcelain, so that also makes me super happy! I really wanted a Millie Fleur D’uccle but the hatching dates didn’t align so I went with the porcelain."
She added a addendum to the message:
"A few things changed though. The chicks are hatching September 3rd and my friend is getting a Millie Fleur d’Uccle and her white crested black polish.. not a Jubilee Orpington."
And asked me to share this image of the breeds she's buying:

Old Red has passed away, I am rather relieved, poor old girl. Now the only hen of my BIL’s left is Raven. She seems hearty and hale so far.
Blanche is also the same age I would say, she is moulting at the moment.
And it’s been just pelting down rain all afternoon, I had hoped it would stop but it’s now 7PM and still pelting down. I need to bury the old girl, I guess she isn’t going anywhere and can wait until tomorrow. But I wanted to put her to her final rest.
Bye Red, you are with your sisters now.
