I haven’t been on BYC much at all this week. I have been very sick. Too sick to see a doctor. I asked
Paul to check on me once a day.

I've been gone for a few days but was wondering where you were.
Hope you're feeling better Alex! :hugs

How is “Beaky” my cross beak my largest bird? (Hopefully this shows his size next to his hatch mates)

Wattles Wednesday!💞

We just got home from camping and I was greeted with another layer. 💗

Gwendolyn (black Sex Link) just a couple days shy of 16 weeks, laid her first egg today.💗 Saw her standing in the nest box, I think she had just finished. It's the size of a bantam egg. So small.

Good evening everyone.

Physical therapy is no joke. Today my arm was moved and stretched into positions that has not been possible for 2 years. Gently mind you if you were to believe that word. I also learned something 5 minutes in that the surgeon never told me. Besides the torn tendon I also have or had Frozen Shoulder. He described it like when your fingers get locked into a position and you crack them to relieve it. My shoulder joint has been locked for a while. OR notes says they cracked it while I was under. The unlocking it though comes with it's own trauma as the muscles had become atrophied around the joint. Lovely information. The kicker, he said 95% of the people who come in with it, are diabetics. He said almost all diabetics will eventually get this in one or both shoulders. Again, never knew that. I swear there is NOTHING diabetes will not affect no matter how hard you try to keep it under control.

Anyway, yes the exercises ranged from uncomfortable to downright painful. I am definitely sore again and Tylenol will not touch it. Somehow though, and I really don't understand it, through the pain is also a sense of relief. The feeling of relief you get when you do a big stretch. I go back again Friday. They promised me the first visit is the worst, we will see. I can see it's going to hurt, and I will be sore afterwards. This is a different sore though. Not the unbearable pain from before the surgery. I can handle this with a little help from my medicine and lots and lots of ice therapy.

Afterwards I hung out at the diner with mom with a Ice Pack glued to my shoulder and my arm back in that sling. Betty came down around 4, took one look at me and told me to get in her truck she was bringing me home. I did not argue with her and came home and took my medicine again and took a nap. I will not take that at the diner as I will not be out in public looking like I am high. Trust me, I can become a zombie on it and very unsteady on my feet at times.

When we got to the house she had to get out to come look at my silkies. She fell in love with Q and told me to name my price. Nope not for sale. She then picked out over half of my girls and tried to buy them. Again, not for sale. She did meet Ducky who is being given to her and fell in love. She was ready to take him/her home today but I told her she had to wait until all 5 momma's are done raising it. She loves Bingo, and if Bingo turns out to be a male she wants first dibs on it. I also told her the next white I hatch out she can have. I'm so happy she loves silkies now. If I wanted to, and I do not I could have named a price on them all plus the coop and she would have jumped. She even hinted at that but I let it go in one ear and out the other. I told her to give me time, and she can have all the silkies she wants. Any of my future hatches she gets first right of refusal before I list them.

It’s definitely a project color.

This is the hen example photo Meyers has on its website.

I see that with these guys, they both have pretty clear black and white stripes.

But Roxy has always looked quite different. I thought maybe she would not be cuckoo at all and end up feathering out blue or black. But she does seem to be getting some white (silver) feathers in a muddled stripe pattern. So I am thinking she either will change ALOT as she gets older and feathers out or she may be a blue cuckoo. I just find it interesting.
A blue cuckoo sounds exciting... & rare ❣️I wonder if Meyers was aware of it before filling your order. Lucky you. & if she is really blue I wonder what the parents were?

She’s the hen one of my egg clients gave to me, so I always want her to look her best if they come for a visit.

She hangs with the older ladies, rather than the girls her age. Less drama hahaha.
Unfortunately our chickens can't look their best 100% of the time... just as our kids don't either

Can you get some new pictures of Roxy?

From what you are describing she sounds almost like Poppet.
