I had a Black Australorp named Raven...she was very broody and loved raising chicks! I loved her so much I also named one of my characters in my graphic novels called Mabel's World, Raven. (You can see all the chicken cartoons on a thread called Mabel's World in the hobbies forum or from my page.)

So darn cute! Talent

Erma is a beauty for sure I love the cute names breeders give their color varieties ~ Paint, Splash, Silver, Ermine, Mille Fleur, Porcelain, Tortoiseshell, Lavender, Blue Laced, etc etc... so exotic teehee!

I appreciate it. Just joking around but Raven (the black one) looks like she needs retinol under her eye. Or perhaps more sleep. Or maybe she's closing her eyes a little to see better.

Maybe she squints to see better up close... I do it in my old age too.

They are everywhere! Been watching the Noirans chasing after Mr P, generally running around and now I see they are able to get up on the small crates the silkies use to get up on the roost ledge. Won’t be long now until they are getting up there.

I am going to remove the front off one of those nest boxes under the ledge and they can use that to sleep in at night, I have a screen to go in front of the nest box.

Thanks. I can see that and will deploy my knife to open up the rooms in the cardboard condo there is already big openings but I can make them bigger.
That said, nobody has tried to peck the Littles. The only pecking so far was chippy pecking Pooh and even that did not provoke a retaliation.
The Bigs seem to accept them. Calypso is still a bit scared of them and Sylvie remains broody so who knows what she thinks, but they run around with Pooh and Piglet quite happily. One even jumped on Pooh’s back for a second.

Poor Mr P is being harassed by them, he is calling to the hens and the babies come running, that sets the mamas off and babies seem to glory in that! More food - what brats!
