Maybe keep a friend in with her.
@TOMTE, that might be a good idea. Then she's not alone, gets a bit of chicken stimulation. And is less likely to be a total outsider when she goes back in with the flock, which would mean you'd have to integrate her. Or maybe you could let her hang with them for a few hours each day?

Thank you :hugs

I think we might have hydrogen peroxide. If not I'll get some tomorrow. I'll also get liquid tylenol and the triple antibiotic.

Right now she's walking (limping) around and lying down while the other girls forage. She's alert, picking at the grass. I'm going to keep her in the garage for the next few nights to keep her from jumping up and down from the roost and so the others dont pick on her.

Sybil keeps checking on her 🧡🖤
It's wise to bring a friend. Is she particularly close to one of the others? Who does she hang out with/dust bathe with/roost with?

I tried putting Sybil with her but Sybil flipped out. I'll just let Aliss hang out with them for a while during the day.

I... Am... So behind... :th

Aliss was bit by a dog today. She's resting now. There's a puncture wound clear thru the skin but not very deep into the muscle. I flushed it with epsom salt water. Tomorrow dad and I will recycle cans and pick up antibiotic ointment with the cash. She's weak on her right leg and just wants to lie down, but she's eating and drinking between naps. She's hanging out in the garage with us 😊

I don't want to bother her right now so I'll get pics of the wound tomorrow when I flush it again. It hardly bled, it's just a hole in the skin and slight damage to the muscle. She's missing a lot of feathers. She had a prolapse when I first found her but it corrected itself almost immediately.

I'm not angry at the dog or her owner. I know the risks of free ranging, no less in a rural area with a lot of dogs and other predators. She's a good girl and she was just being a dog. Aliss is alive, sore but alive, and she has a good chance at recovery. That's what matters.

It's been a long day for poor, sweet Aliss.
Terramycin is a good antibiotic ointment. Dog bites are crush bites more than puncture wounds, so she may have internal injuries beyond a sore leg. I wonder because of the prolapse, what caused that…. unless that pressure was a stress response? I’d suggest trying to keep her quiet and stay still, lower the lights too, and handle her frame and belly as little as possible, beyond examining her and treating her wound.

Wow ! They are growing up aren’t they?! Look at those legs! Beautiful!
Yes they are beautiful. My favorite of the littles, is the little roo Gizmo And running Running second is Elsa, my little snow princess.
Here’s Giz again for your pleasure: IMG_5446.jpeg

Good suggestion - yes totally agreed. Forgot about that being mentioned. Gosh I really hate dogs - have had so much trouble with them and the horses in the past. I was happy when Sally my dog/cat/rabbit killing pony came along! Miss that old girl!

Happy Fluffy Butt Friday everyone!

They are more like jungle fowl! What grand adventures they have in that tall grass - so glad I didn’t mow it down.

Herding dogs like that need lots of work to do ♥️ Working with cattle or even sheep ♥️

Rotties are very command driven no matter what work they're used for... many were excellent as police K9's but their lifespan is too short. The Malinois have become recent law enforcement favorites... having less health issues & longer service lifespans.

One of my breeder contacts raised Pyrenees but the breed had too much wanderlust so the breeder was looking for Malinois as a trial.
