Oy vey... Well... Let's see if I can hold myself together.

About an hour ago Aliss fell asleep. Within minutes she was gone. I don't know what happened. She was doing so well today. I was about to give her a piece of my dinner and she was just lying there, her comb was starting to turn pale, she was still warm. She must have just passed. I held her and rocked her and kissed her over and over and cried. I had to bury her by myself, my dad is sleeping. I'm just stunned, and my heart is broken. I don't know what happened. I'm just glad she went in her sleep. I hope she wasn't in pain. And I'm happy her last day was good. I'm just so... More than sad. I don't know how else to put it, just heartbroken. I didn't expect it. I didn't think it would hit me so hard.

It is never easy to lose a friend!

My dad has the owner's number. We'll let her know about it. But even now I couldn't ask her to pay for Aliss' death. I'm heartbroken but not angry and I can't blame the dog, and I can hardly blame the owner either. I know most everybody here has a different opinion than me on this, but I love dogs deeply, I know how and why they act the way they do, and I know accidents happen. And huskies are furry Houdinis. The dog was out, saw one of my free roaming chickens as a toy and played with her like a toy because she had easy access to her. I know and accept the risks of free ranging. The dog shouldn't have been on my property or have access to my chickens in the first place, but she was and did, and dogs don't have a concept of invisible boundaries/property lines. It's just unfortunate. I can't bring myself to feel any sort of resentment or anything like that.
That may be, but you do have a right to not suffer finacially for someone else's dog's action. If the dog's owner is responsible - they would offer to pay for Aliss when your dad lets them know she passed. The money can't replace Aliss, and I'm not suggesting it could, but it CAN help you afford things like ibuprofen, bandages, VetRx, wormer - whatever....some other things that may help you take care of your chickens... or to purchase a couple of baby chicks and some starter feed if you want to help replace (in time) the egg laying/number of eggs you get.

That is a fair, reasonable and responsible thing for that owner to do.

I’m having a really rough week. Spent several hours at the ER Tuesday night and then again on Wednesday. Thought I might have another DVT Tuesday but tests were negative. Wednesday had cardiac symptoms but all those tests were normal range. Still having numbness/tingling/burning pain in both hands and forearms, which has started shooting all the way up behind my shoulder blade on the right side. It was bad enough when I was at the hospital they gave me morphine and a muscle relaxer.

Seeing a cardiologist on Tuesday to make sure they can’t find anything wrong, and a neurosurgeon on Friday. Then my PCP the Tuesday after that.

Can barely sleep. Not even taking 10mg Hydrocodone. Really hope they figure something out soon.

Falling apart in my old age tax, including a fluffy butt.

I totally agree!

Caturday
I've been busy yesterday that I haven't gotten a chance to post a Caturday. The cat has been watching us build the roof of our RV yesterday. Since I don't have that photo, here's a photo of him under the table from a couple weeks ago.

I promise I'll have new chicken pictures later today.

Integration time has arrived -

The little bantams have moved out to coop two days ago. I grabbed the wire crate our puppy outgrew and put up cardboard barrier that lets the chicks have a small spot where the big kids can’t bother them. Set up food and water right outside of it. So it is separate from the big kids and the eat and hide if need be. First night they got stuck outside after the auto door closed so we had to fix that but tonight they were all inside the coop when we went out to check on them!

No injuries though the big kids are harassing them some. From what I can tell this is just the way of the chicken. I am just glad this set up seems to be working and they remain safe and sound.

I haven’t gotten to take any photos but I snag some tomorrow.

I swear it was yesterday they were this big.

Egg update

2 eggs have hatched, s3 is one of them and appears to be white (or at least light), I had my red light turned on with my headlamp so colour was hard to see, the other one has chipmunk stripes! What’s that all about in a silkie?! I managed to salvage S3 egg, I think it’s from the light chick at least, as the chick was sort of snuggled in it.

P1 and the third silkie egg have yet to hatch, didn’t see any pipe when I checked but it was a very quick check so don’t know…. I shoved them back under mum the same way I pulled them out (same side up).

Whiskers is being a good mama, I am home early today, so I’ll check on her when I get home.

Have a lovely morning/day everyone.
Silkie chipmunk stripes is a Partridge Silkie ~ can't wait to see it ❣️

So then what colour is Marty and Georgie? Moorehead is that correct?

Which one of yours is partridge again?

Found this on partridge variety:

It’s likely a Roo….. hahaha
Range of Partridge Silkies come in multiple color varieties w/ varied hue intensities too:
Gold/Blue Partridge
Buff/Blue Partridge
Silver Partridge (boring called Gray by the APA)
Dark Partridge
Moorhead Partridge

Fish tank update.

A week after I got Rosie's guppies and cories, one of the guppies got ick and passed. I apparently did not find it and remove it in time because within 2 days everything got it and died, babies included.

So I scrubbed the tank, waited a bit and went for round 2. It has been over a month now and I say this time it is a success. We changed it up this time around. Due to light requirements for the plant which is thriving, I'm fighting algae. Rosie picked out 4 snails. She has a yellow, black, blue and a white one. They are her favorite in the tank. When we went to pick out the new fish we got there soon after a new shipment came in and they had the shrimp. The employee's were not exaggerating when they claimed the shrimp sell out fast. They had 5 ghost shrimp left which we got. They also had 2 Orange Bee shrimp and 2 yellow Amino shrimp. Well, they were more expensive but those beauties also came home with me. My shrimp are thriving and one of the Bee's and one of the ghosties are already berried up so babies soon. She also picked out the last 3 ember tetra's they had. The shrimp are bigger then the tetra's so they are a perfect size for her tank. The shrimps favorite place is the green ball thing and around the driftwood. They are very active when I feed them. I will get another video later when it is time to feed them to catch most of the shrimpies. I want more shrimp. I'm stalking petco. I need the red cherry shrimp and the blue shrimp. I will get them eventually.

How fun❣️
