We left BOA many decades ago & switched to Wells F for the last couple decades which has been OK & most recently have a 2nd acct at a lrg. Christian credit union. I like the cr. un. for actual helpful staff & not forcing upscale sales pitches on us ~ only downside is its not as close to home as we'd like.
Wells Farto also had issues in the past.

Canyon of the Grapes! Wild Cimarron grapevines did and still do grow in the canyon, I believe

What residents around here call the grapevine is the altitude climb including Gorman & CHP closes it off during snow storms. Plus it always annoyed my ears popping at the higher elevations.

Grapes don't thrive in snow well so why have they referred to that range as the "grapevine"? Never understood that all these 80 yrs!

We grow grapes here - Ontario has a huge wine industry 😊♥️

And every year of course they hold grapes back for the Ice Wine. They harvest them at -8C, and we even have wild grapes growing here (dreadful things take over everywhere!) I thought of putting in grapes but keeping them pruned is a task like every thing else here.

Wild grape - I have left this small area for the chooks to use.

They hide in there - oh and now lay eggs the brats!

This is the scale I got.

In terms of bags I pulled out all the grocery bags and picked one that looked like it might work. The best one turned out to be not a real grocery bag but something I nearly threw out! Some of the grocery bags make a noise when moved around and although one of those looked the best size I thought it might be scary.
I will use a smaller bag for the chicks probably - though Mr.Chips has put on a growth spurt and is now scary tall!

Please let me know how the weighing of a little one goes - I am wondering how accurate it is on the low end if it goes up to 110 lbs. If it seems to be good with Chippy versus one of the smaller ones - then that is a good sign.

By the way...he is so darned good looking! 🥰 🥰

He is looking fine and is becoming less fearful of me. Wiped his beak on my shoes this morning.
It is probably still a temporary name, but he is Mr. Chips with an 's'. I keep finding myself calling him that because Goodbye Mr. Chips was one of the few phrases in English that my beloved Great Uncle knew. He must have seen the movie at some point maybe?
Anyway, like I communicate with my chickens he and I were very close without a shared language but he would say 'Goodbye Mr. Chips' and roar with laughter and that would set me off giggling as a little girl.
I don’t believe I have ever seen the film or read the book but I don’t get the sense that the goodbye is sad and Mr. Chips sounds like a fine old character, so it will do as a name for now!

A book made into a movie in 1939 & a musical in 1969 I think. They don't make great stories like this nowadays...
