It takes a special kind of skill to loose one's insulin pump receiver. I, I have that skill.

I got home around 10 this evening. Came in and threw my ice packs in the freezer, and set everything else on the table. I went out to gather the eggs and double check Rosie had everyone locked up. I then sat down and went down a facebook chicken group rabbit hole which resulted in a "I want a turkey".

A hour ago I decided to turn in and went to grab the pump receiver so I could put it on charge. I thought it was on my bed. Umm....nope. Ok, I left it on the kitchen table, again nope. Mild panic sets in and I go searching in the car with no luck. At this point I'm now retracing my steps from the car looking on the ground thinking I had put it in my pocket and it had fallen on the ground. No luck out front, so I go out back looking and in the coops. Why I thought it would have fallen out in the coops I have no idea, but, again...panic.

I'm now convinced I left it at the diner and I'm preparing make a 2 am trip back when I go to grab one of my ice packs out of the freezer. There it is, in the bag I had tossed my ice packs in. I know remember tossing everything in the bag as we were getting ready to leave so I would not forget anything.

There are times I should not be trusted with expensive medical devices. Tonight was one of them.

Whoa Nelly! Glad you found it. Yes expensive:

You do not need a turkey - don’t you have wild ones there? We have lots of wild turkeys here - magnificent beasts!

What you do need are Polish! They are the perfect accompaniment to a silkie 😊♥️

Nope they will get sap on them, this time of year though the trees are starting to go dormant for winter so the sap is not running in them.
Don’t you realize that maple syrup comes from Canadian trees.?sa🇨🇦 how else would I enjoy my waffles in the morning ? Get off those Canadians and let them do their job!

Maine and Vermont also have lots of Maple Syrup. Any place that is able to grow Sugar Maples, has a syrup industry 😉♥️

Maples are considred a weed tree here they tend to out grow trees like Oaks, Beechwood, Ash, etc. all slower Growing trees 😊 and those big White Pines like the one I have that the chooks like to hang out under. It is considered a threatened species here.

They require a huge area to grow, and can take 100 or more yrs to grow.

They make a lovely dry safe area for all sorts or creatures to hide in.

Can you explain your setup to me and why? Why lockdown? What’s the empty half? Why are the eggs behind the little door (or are there eggs under Delft, too?)? I’m kind of confused. But she looks all cute and snuggly in there!

I’ve not had a broody hen yet. Just wondering.
Lockdown is the last three days of egg incubation. Delft has had no desire to leave her nest, so I closed this nestbox set off from the other. The nestboxes are a pair of rabbit hutches put together with 4 individual nests.
Delft is sitting on her eggs, the ones you can see in the picture are the ones I was gathering from my other birds.
The empty half is there for her to stretch, poo, whatever she needs to do.

We grow grapes here - Ontario has a huge wine industry 😊♥️

And every year of course they hold grapes back for the Ice Wine. They harvest them at -8C, and we even have wild grapes growing here (dreadful things take over everywhere!) I thought of putting in grapes but keeping them pruned is a task like every thing else here.

Wild grape - I have left this small area for the chooks to use.

They hide in there - oh and now lay eggs the brats!
When my lantana died back in the winter last year, I found almost 3 dozen eggs hidden under it. 🤣
